6 player variant . which map...?
Hi,
just finishing my work on the colonial map. What map should I do next? It needs to be a well tested 6-player-map, as one of my friends might not be able to play in our next game.

Possible New Statistic?
We have many statistics that are interesting, but there is one missing that I would like to see. Much as there are the total points earned from all the games played, I would like to see the total SCs collected from the games as well. I think the average of the total number of SCs against the number of games played might be a better measure of a player's skill than points. It is still a subjective figure, but I do think it would be interesting.

There has been a mistake the nobel peace prize actuall goes to...

They are basically giving him the prize to inspire him to make acheivements to someday earn the prize he's already won. I get whiplash just thinking about it.

I'm not really shocked. My professor on the Arab-Israeli Conflict back in college once said that the Middle East's conflicts had produced more Nobel Peace Prizes and less actual peace than any other.

They often give it for what amount to good intentions not yet backed up by action ... but I still find this grossly premature.

I agree with Kestas. I bet he grimaced when he heard. There's no way he doesn't realize it's ridiculous.

I laughed at this. He did keep Sarah Palin out of office so that deems him worthy in my book.
we all know he got it beacuse hes the first plack president. lolz. i dont really care though. to me the nobel prize is bullshit, unless you dicover something extremly important that can actually help the world. by the way, i was kidding about the first black pres crap.

"You can bitch all day about how Obama doesn't deserve it but the fact is any person on Earth can be criticized just as much."

the fact that we're even disscussing this says something. anyways, this isnt some nitpicking about faults of the winner, he didnt do anything to win the peace prize.

I am a staunch Obama backer-

But this IS absurd.

He wants to cool the Middle East, and, even though I'd prefer Israel get a bit more favor in the dealings, I agree with his approach, and hope that it will SOMEDAY amount.

He's given America a better world face that George W. Bush- even the most ardent conservative can't argue there, the world likes Obama on the whole far more than Bush- and ONE DAY that'll really pay off, I think.

Gitmo- he PLANS to close it, is TRYING to close it- good.

But it's not DONE YET.

To be honest, I really think this could've been a huge grenade if Obama himself didn't do what he did- he came right out and admitted HE didn't think he deserved the award.

Say what you will about him, but Obama is a master PR worker.

And I do think, to be honest, that this has been a slow year for peace... where are our Mother Theresas now, our Dr. Kings, our Roosevelts (TR won the award himself, and FDR, for all his flaws, really did do great things, and is arguably our greatest leader ever, and one of the world's most important leaders)... or even a Nixon-figure... on the home front he was a despicable man, but it IS true- only Nixon could go to China...

Obama still has my support, and still has my faith, and I think the faith of many (at this point, we need fatih, and good hard work wouldn't hurt.)

But I'll say it again- honestly, this HAS, sadly, been a slow year for peace...

I can't believe (if it's actually true) that his has happened, and I can't believe what I'm reading here,...

Barack Obama has made this world a much more dangerous place. He has laid down the most powerful peace preserving force on the earth to a few insignificant warlords and tyrants. He has broken the biggest wealth producing machine in history in the name of 'financial and social equality', and he has elevated racial issues that have plagued our country from it's inception.

You have got to be kidding,.... he has none not one thing to establish, preserve, or advance any type of real peace in the world.

"your blaming the potential bankrupting of the US economy on Obama? That is the most ignorant thing I've read on this forum. lol"

First of all, you're not really laughing.

Secondly, while Obama couldn't have bankrupted America without reckless spending going back to LBJ, quadrupling the national debt in four years seems like a new level to me and also something of a point of no return.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)
10 Oct 09 UTC
Really, rojo? Do you enjoy the taste of blood so much to warmonger so?

Would you have us fight the entire world? Would you have us fight the fight in the Middle East for 100 years?

That's been done, trying to control the Middle East through force, it didn't work-

Ask our British friends here...

And he's SAVING our economy... "biggest wealth producing machine" and yet... we seem to be melting down under our current structure.

A great man, a man carved forever in our landscape, one reformed our economy in a radical way... so radically, and so riskilly, that some compared him, too, to being to much of a social reformer, to ruining our economy-

That man is Theodore Roosevelt, and occupies a place with Lincoln, Wshington, and Jefferson for all time in the mountains of our land and our hears.

Elevated race issues? That'd actually be his DETRACTORS... I'm amazed that a race riot hasn't yet broken out... it's truly saddening that there is still so much racism in America...

But what is great about her, what is great about America is that she contains, was built upon such a noble idea- the idea that we CAN change, that ANYONE can change, that a people can change things for the better, if they have the vision and work towards it.

The American Dream is dead right now.

I believe in Obama- and I want to see that American Dream brought back.

Because without it, without that dream, America, the World is a living nightmare

With the amount of debt he is racking up, yes, Invictus is right. Of course, Bush gave it a good shot too, but even so...

Without America and the American Dream the world is a living nightmare? I really hope you can see the incredible arrogance in that statement, and that's without going into the sheer fantasy that the 'American Dream' is.

obiwan, the regulation of the banking system being pursued won't solve the problems. This was a recession caused by regulation, not by greed as the narrative says.
ottovanbis (150 DX)

Yes, I really was laughing OUT LOUD. Blame Obama is funny -- such ignorance is funny, in a sad kind of way.

American Dream is an illusion, it needs to go. To replace it with American Paranoia, which was Bushe's adgenda (not without some external support) and I grant you fear was a fair response to Bush-Cheney's abuses of power. So ya, blame the next guy who inherited the mess B and C left.

You might want to consider what happened when Bush's admin rescinded some of the rights the US was founded upon; when they manipulated legislation to benefit a very few; whne they ignored smarter humans than they who warned them of the fast approaching economic and predictable economic collapse, and which ultimately caused the collapse.(with global effects). (I've written more on that on the "superstition" thread.)

You might want to consider that the new administration is working very hard to pull the country back for the brink of not just economic collapse, but the social collapses that would inevitably follow. This would have been true no matter who won the last election because of the greedy power mongering mismanagement by an administration who sucked up that dream and shit it upon the country it was supposed to be serving.

The loss of the american dream only seems like a nightmare because reality is no longer behind the curtain. There are worse realities than this.

I admire Obama he's not used one scare tactic to get his message across. His staff are allowed to be human and in his administration change is clear option and in the mean time he's doing his best to protect US citizens from themselves and their tendency for mistaking the dream for reality.

Curious isn't it?
The United States owes China roughly around $3 000 000 000 000. You have to wonder why they aren't mad about missing all that money. You also have to wonder why people keep loaning money to America. You also have to wonder why Obama is receiving the Nobel Peace Prize so early.
giapeep (100 D)

Agreed Za, much to wonder about.
ottovanbis (150 DX)

Man, our Founding Fathers are probably rolling over in their graves from this debt issue. If there was one thing they hated more than established religion, and England, it was debt, which they argued turned people into dependent workers, and then abject slaves. Right now we are beginning to become economic bitches for the Chinese, and not even Hamilton would be able to fix this. If Obama can resolve this issue (of course recession problem is first on the list along with Health Care and Education) he deserves every Prize and Trophy known to man.

ottovanbis: Actually america ended up in quite significant national debt as a result of the revolution, mostly to France. I presume you meant that the founders did not like personal debt, but they accepted it as a necessary loss on a national level.

Are the Broncos better than the Patriots?
Sometimes. A better question, is are the broncos better than the patriots when Tom Brady is the Patriots' QB? Undoubtedly yes. Denver has gone 5-0 and will continue to win. The pats may have had a chance if Brady could complete a pass or two against our D.
