Note: I am not saying that ManU and Arsenal are opposites in talent but rather in playing and passing styles.

My point is that you can't have two rivals as your two favourite teams. I'm not saying you can't admire a rival, but you can't have them as your two favourite teams. Take Barcelona and Real Madrid, Schalke and Dortmund, AC Milan and Inter, you cannot be in favour of BOTH of those.
And from my point of view, I care little if Arsene is bringing through young talent, hardly any of it is English, and hardly and of it actually comes through their own youth system, so it's basically a waste of time.

Ah, I forgot to differentiate between ManU and Arsenal. ManU is still #1 for me.

StevenC.'s position makes perfect sense to me. MU is #1, so he hopes that they beat Arsenal (and everybody else). Arsenal is #2, so he hopes that they beat everybody else (but not MU). That other fans of one dislike the other is not relevant to anyone else's opinion.

It would even be possible to like them equally and hope that they always tie. But now we're getting weird. (^_^)

Not a huge team sports fan, but I do like to pull for the TN Vols (they suck, though), Tim Tebow (NOT Flordia), TN Titans, Atlanta Falcons. UConn in basketball.

Crazy Anglican- I like the Braves but they are a highly dissapointing team (just like any Georgia or Tennessee team is) when it comes to winning championships or what not. Sad, I go to school about 2 miles away from the Rome Braves but I've never been.

LanGaidin- Ohio State has to be the most overrated team of all time. They just can't compete with USC (hate them), Flordia (hate them), and the new star teams. I certainly do love to watch SEC teams run over OSU in the national title.

I grew up in Nebraska during the height of their college football glory. My parents were huge fans. I became an anti-Nebraska fan in rebellion; I would cheer any team playing against Nebraska. (My feelings are softer now … so is the team.)

Sheffield United - nothing prepares you for the ultimately disappointing rollercoaster of life like being a Blade.

Very sadly, I follow a team in most of the major football leagues for a variety of reasons, as well as keeping an eye on the results of a few more). I also have teams I'll follow in pretty much any major sport league - how can you watch it if you've no-one to root for?

So I also follow Hearts, Deportivo La Coruna, Sparta Rotterdam, Bordeaux, Boavista, Genoa, Kaiserlautern & Ferencvaros, and look out for East Stirlingshire and Scarborough Athletic.

And Bradford Bulls (Rugby League), West Coast Eagles (AFL), Yorkshire CCC, Miami Dolphins, Boston Red Sox, Miami Heat, Miami Hurricanes. Don't really have an NHL team.

And England/GB (delete as the sprot requires) in anything..

I also follow the New York Red Bulls. They are the perfect example of a bad team with good talent.

@akilies... Barcelona won the UEFA Champions League, NOT the UEFA Cup. The one Barca won is the more prestigious of the two, so it'd pay not to make that mistake again... although the UEFA Cup has been renamed the UEFA Europa League this season.

I'm also a UK fan (it's the law if you live in Kentucky), a UC fan (most of my friends from high school went to UC), and a UWisconsin-Madison fan (my nephew got his BS and MS in Civil Engineering there).

I support Gremio FBPA (Football, soccer for the English ones).

I'm a -giant- (American) football fan (coach my son's peewee team, and I'm a head referee of a varsity high school football officials crew). My team has and always will be the Pittsburgh Steelers!!

Actually rooting for anybody but the Bengals is the smart thing to do. I found it funny last season when UC was doing so well, Koch's Sporting Goods stripped the Ochocinco uniform off the dummy and put a Bearcat uniform on him. I think the Bearcats may actually have been able to beat the Bengals last year.
