Interesting Discussion.
It struck me we haven't had any interesting ethical/political/historical/other debates for a while, and they're always good. Unfortunately I can't think of a topic...

Were I able, I would eat my own bodyweight in extra mature Cheddar.

Gotta say I'm not a huge fan of cheese, but mature cheddar is one of the few I will eat.

mmm, cheesesteaks. i prefer cheese whiz on mine as it melts and evenly distributes itself throught the sandwich. fried onions and ketchup complete the deal. maybe some sweets or hots too...depends on the mood.
Kaiser,
You may not be being a dick. Hence my question.
As for dying, not quite sure on that. They even sell White and Yellow American for those with a preference, though the taste is no different. But much of the food you eat and drink is dyed for no reason, as is most toothpaste, soap, shampoo, etc.

When I was a kid, my father had to travel to England 3 or 4 times a year, and would always bring home a big wheel of stinky cheese. Yum! I miss those days.
Trip, yes, exactly. I have a friend in town for the weekend, and he has asked for me to take him to the famous cheese steak places in Philly (Pat's, Geno's, and if he's still hungry, we'll hit South Street).

@Dingle: Oh, I just love the American-ness of your post:

"Trip, yes, exactly. I have a friend in town for the weekend, and he has asked for me to take him to the famous cheese steak places in Philly (Pat's, Geno's, and if he's still hungry, we'll hit South Street)."

The concept that, given the huge portion sizes at most US eateries, someone could go to an American restaurant, have a meal there, eat it all, and STILL be hungry.... That cracked me up.

Being part of a debate club at school, I am constantly on the look out to find and improve new topics for debate.

If someone wants to challenge me to a public debate (in the forum) on any of the below topics I'd be happy to oblige.

The legalization of voluntary cannibalism?

Sterilization of those found guilty of violent crimes?

Sentencing Attempted Murder as the same as Murder?

Tied aid in cases of clearly corrupt or incompetent Gov'ts? (ie. Burma)

Allowing Sex in public?

(And I have a bunch more :))
Jamie, some explanation. (While you ARE correct about American portion sizes in general....

Last time we went to Philly, we got one cheesesteak (no Fries, no drink) at Pats and split it. Then we walked across the street and got one at Geno's and split it. Neither of those places, despite being the most famous cheesesteak joints, is known for their generous portion of steak on the roll.

ewww friendly sword. lol sex in public would be disgusting. all the poor little children walking around with their parents asking, "hey mommy, what're those two people doing on top of each other?"

and along the lines of food portions, the nicer the place the smaller the portions. I don't know why but when people pay more for less at a nicer place it makes them feel like the less that they got for more is better.
Glorious93 (901 D)

Voluntary cannibalism?? As far as I'm concerned, anyone who would be willingly killed and eaten clearly isn't quite right in the head, and that shouldn't be allowed to be taken advantage of.

@PB&J Question: I prefer to use one knife, start with jelly and spread on the right slice of bread, wipe the knife (each side) on the area of bread crust that isn't used, and then spread the peanut butter on the left slice. I hate dirtying other knives and or washing and getting excess water in the jars from the knife.

Usually my solution is to not use Jelly. I've concluded that lunch shouldn't be sweet.

@jman777: sex in public, just get parents used to saying, "oh they are having sex. You're a child, children don't have sex..."

would probably make society much more open about sex... i was loudly discussing - the fact that breast feeding is an effective contraceptive and if you don't breast feed you can become pregnant faster - in a reastaurant yesterday, and my friends became embarrassed by the idea that other people might overhear me...

@FS: sterilisation of those found guilty of violent crime: we should not attempt to artificially alter our gene pool, we don't know what genes will be useful in the future. There may come a time when we need violent individuals to use for the betterment (or entertainment) of society. There amy come a time where we need to violently hunt and kill our food (again). Maybe isolating them and giving them some land would be better.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
10 Jul 09 UTC
@Glorious: Voluntary cannibalism, perhaps like those who have the choice to donate organs upon death, or give their body to science, people should have the option of giving their body up to the cannibals...

KaiserAl32 (135 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
@orathaic: Violent individuals get land and isolation? that's terrific! What's the catch?
Glorious93 (901 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
@orathaic: the difference between donating your body to science or medicine as opposed to voluntary cannibalism is that the former is likely to do good for humanity, whereas the latter is merely to suit an individuals unhealthy lust for human flesh.
KaiserAl32 (135 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
Speak for yourself. Humans are supposed to taste like barbecued pork. Are you suggesting pork is Evil, sir? Are you?
'unhealthy'? what if it wasn't for unhealthy but religious reasons?
Glorious93 (901 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
Hehe, apologies if I offended you, I suppose what/who you eat is no business of mine.
KaiserAl32 (135 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
Regardless of the reason you consume human flesh it's unhealthy in the most literal sense. You can contract far more diseases than if you were consuming the meat of a different species.
Glorious93 (901 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
@Dingleberry: Any religion which revolves around eating real human flesh has no part in a civilized society.
KaiserAl32 (135 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
I completely agree. If you want to partake in cannibalistic rituals at least have the decency to say that that the flesh has been transubstantiated into a wafer.
trip (696 D(B))
10 Jul 09 UTC
i've read that humans taste like spam, not bbq pork.
trip (696 D(B))
10 Jul 09 UTC
where is this "civilized" society you speak of, glorious93?
KaiserAl32 (135 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
Depends on how you prepare the meat. I'd imagine that if your human flesh tastes like spam, you aren't making it right.
Invictus (240 D)
10 Jul 09 UTC
I don't think that there's a "right" way to prepare human flesh.
orathaic (1009 D(B))
10 Jul 09 UTC
@Kaiser, yes isolation in a prison state.

Grant them an amount of land per head of population, if they kill each other you can send more violent offenders out there.

The downside is they may not feel like helping our society when we need their violence...

@glorious: i don't know anyone with a lust for human flesh. Perhaps i should google the term and find out more.

@trip: we are a very civilised society by our own standards. Isn't that clear?

Unpause a game
We kind of have a problem in the game "Operation Big Brother". The german guy got banned, so the game was automaticly in Pause for waiting a remplacement.
We did have one, and need now to unpause the game. The problem is that the Italia guy never connect to the game !
So the Italia is the only one to not unpause the game, but as (I think) he will never come back anyway, we are froze for ever !
What shall we do ? =O
