Interesting Discussion.
It struck me we haven't had any interesting ethical/political/historical/other debates for a while, and they're always good. Unfortunately I can't think of a topic...

Unpause a game
We kind of have a problem in the game "Operation Big Brother". The german guy got banned, so the game was automaticly in Pause for waiting a remplacement.
We did have one, and need now to unpause the game. The problem is that the Italia guy never connect to the game !
So the Italia is the only one to not unpause the game, but as (I think) he will never come back anyway, we are froze for ever !
What shall we do ? =O

The mouse wheel gets me everytime guys. Just this week in a highly critical opening move set in my last league game I moved Con to Smyrna, meaning that all my units are now in the same place as they started.
Chrispminis (916 D)
07 Jul 09 UTC
Yeah, the mouse wheel is a real criminal.

Draugnar, I've checked your log-in information to see if your account was logged into by anyone else, but unless your wife is playing pranks on you, this is not the case. I typically tend to trust code more than people. Perhaps you can check the source to see if there's a bug? Otherwise, I would chalk it up to user error... it's also a well known fact that people can alter their memories and be absolutely convinced that they did no such thing. People have been convinced that they have vivid memories of experiences that have never happened.

@Chrisp, I will accept that I may have a faltering memory and only thought I made the change. I will start recording screenshots though for critical builds in the future.

i didnt order a build in liverpool ffs
this bug is serious

All we need is a screenshot or two to prove this phenonmenon is not some kind of mass hysteria. So peoeple if this has happened to you, would you please go back in time to when you put your orders in and take a screenshot. If you don't own a timemachine then I suggest people start taking screenshots from now on. It will only take a coupld to prove that this really happens. Otherwise if no one can produce any real evidence we shall just have to put this down to human error.

(

)

[1832668] => Array

[toTerr] => Liverpool
)
)

If youre just messing around, well done you got me
hellalt (24 D)
09 Jul 09 UTC
i dont know what this shit is but i didnt build in liverpool
why the hell would i want to build in liverpool?
just to mess around with you?
the problem is real and very annoying. building in liverpool instead of edi will just make me lose to germany
hellalt (24 D)
09 Jul 09 UTC
also screenshots will prove nothing
you ll just accuse me or someone else that we changed orders after the screenshot
Jamiet99uk (873 D)
09 Jul 09 UTC
Actually hellalt has a point. What do screenshots actually prove? As he says, you could take a screenshot, and then unfinalize and change your order after that.
texasdeluxe (516 D(B))

Maybe we need more information such as what web browser players are using when this is happening to see if there is any correlation. Some sort of troubleshooting? Is there specific times? Are they logged in when the orders change? Not that I'm ruling out human error, but anything is possible when it comes to software and this seems to be a trend. I'm just hoping it doesn't happen to me! :)
hellalt (24 D)
09 Jul 09 UTC
isnt it possible that the program changes the last order by itself?
for example that part

[1832668] => Array
(
[type] => Build Army
[toTerr] => Liverpool
)
)

maybe this code is inserted by the bug. also, i dont think the mousewheel is the problem. i ve read this thread few days ago and since then i started doublechecking all finalized moves. i m 100% sure i ordered a fleet at edi and not liverpool. this was the second time i have this problem. the bug doesnt seem to change type of unit but location. at least that's the case for me
spyman (424 D(G))
09 Jul 09 UTC
Screenshosts will not *absolutely* prove anything. This could still be rorted if someone was actually such friggin loser to try such a thing.
But it would represent some kind of evidence. And if it was from someone who is a known and trusted member of the community then you would have to say the evidence was pretty strong. Two screenshots... then we could say something was up. But if not - then we shall have to consign this to the same basket as the lochness monster.
hellalt (24 D)
09 Jul 09 UTC
sooner or later it will happen to you too ;)
kestasjk (64 DMod(P))

The order logs are definitive; there is no room for a bug that takes, say, "Edinburgh" from your browsers POST form input data, replaces it with "Liverpool" before the order-logging code, then after "Liverpool" has been logged, validated and saved, replacing "Liverpool" with "Edinburgh" in the HTML returned to the browser

Order logging was designed so that exactly what was submitted is logged, before any code has a chance to change anything. If it says "Liverpool" in the order logs that's what was received, processed and returned

Check the order logging code here, not the sort of code that can mistakenly replace the names of territories:

@hellalt I shall take screenshots from now on. It only takes a second.
Btw it has happened to me (a couple of times) but I have always assumed that I was careless.
kestas is pretty sure of his logic in this one. As yet I have not heard from another programmer say that his logic is flawed. I realize that draugnar is also a programmer and he says it has happened to him too, but he has not explained what is wrong with what kestas says, other than to say that it has happened to him.
Sorry for my skepticism. It is nothing personal and if kestas is wrong we will have all learned something. But he hasn't been proved wrong yet.
Crazyter (1335 D(G))

Draugnar here (account sitting). I don't have time to dig through code and analyze it. I have a 70 hour a week job as a software developer and I come here and to WoW to escape from SD work.
kestasjk (64 DMod(P))
09 Jul 09 UTC
I didn't ask anyone to analyze it. :-/ The point is that the couple dozen lines of code which logs orders is too simple to need analysis, let alone hide a bug that randomly switches territory names back and forth
