Haha jk. You are likely to get less players during the summer because of vacations. Thats why alot of people have pauses around now. MadMarx did say he would play. Last time we did this the interest warranted 3 medium level games with the ranks more evenly distributed but no one too far down the list.

We can't all have 40% win percentages, Akroma. As much as we'd like to have them. I'm sure some more of the top 50 will notice this soon.

I wouldn't underestimate a top 100 game.

yes, but those who are ranked higher are obviously greater players than those who are ranked lower. or rather, their greatness has been more well established.

July rankings are the most accurate rankings to the date.

A player may have had a few lucky strikes in his first two or three games, and then stabilize in his "true" (lower) ranking at a later time.

Frankly, I don't even know why they're calculated.

if July rankings include data from all games played then what's the difference with all time rankings? I thought July rankings referred only to games that started and ended in June

july rankings are for all games. all time rankings are the highest rating a player has reached, i believe.

no that cant be it. i never reached the position i have at all time rankings. my may june and july rank was always lower than the all time rank.

djbent is correct. All-time just measures your peak, while the most recent rating is the overall rating. Also this latest July rating corrected a mistake with WTA draws, so previous ratings may not have been accurate.

Now this is very interesting... So aside from the fact that you bet the same fraction of your points every time, this effect could be replicated with the point system if instead of betting flat sums players bet a % of their points? Eg, rather than bet: 101, it might be bet: 5%.

hellalt, all-time takes your peak, whether or not it was at the end of the month or not. Most people peak between the monthly releases, because Ghost-Rating is really supposed to be calculated after each game has finished, not just every month. Perhaps you finished well in a particularly tough game May 16th and peaked, but you were eliminated in another game say May 27th. The June 1st rating would take that elimination into account, but the all-time would take the May 16th rating since it was the highest you ever attained.

For some people, All-time is equal to their most recent rating if they are on their way up.

djbent is right: the "peak rating" is the highest you ever had, and occurred after one specific game.

@chrisp - i think that calculation is true for WTA, but not for PPSC. is that right, TGM?

also, i'm so pleased b/c jbalcorn helped me understand ghost's complicated (to me) mathematical formula, so now i can estimate how much i will gain or lose in each WTA game =)
