Mod Please Help with Unpause
http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=9098

England was CDed when all other countries voted for a pause. Before the pause started (within 5 minutes), a new England came in, but said that it was an accident and was leaving the game. All countries, except for England, have now voted to unpause, and the game has not yet proceeded. Can someone please manually unpause the game? England never voted for the pause and said he wanted to leave, even if it meant losing points.

Extra unit on board.
Could a mod look at this please? In game: http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=9655

England was just forced to disband two units out of four, but still seems to have three units on the board. The fleet in St.Pet shouldn't be there right?

Question on Civil Disorder / AFK player
Hey guys, we have a player in a private game that has not turned in moves after the first move orders. We were wondering if there was anyway to replace him with another friend who wanted to play, or the conditions until the game basically does not wait for him to turn in moves. I believe this is called civil disorder yes? How long does it take to get into civil disorder? Thanks

"Is there any place for personal responsibility? This isn't meant to be a snide question, but should I go get the biggest mortgage I possibly can, so I can buy the biggest house I possibly can, and then not be evicted when I can't pay the bills?"

Where's the responsibility of the lender in this?

If the responsibility is equal (which I think is AT LEAST the case), I side with Sicarius on this.

Tell me how this isn't true, Dingle: "the banks are using taxpayer money to stay afloat then evicting the very people who paid for them to stay in business"

When profits are privatized and losses are socialized...that's Fascism!

Sicarius +1
Sicarius (673 D)

"Because I believe in personal responsibility. Because I don't believe in conspicuous consumption. Because I don't believe in keeping up with the Joneses. Buy what you NEED, not what you want. Buy what you can AFFORD, not what makes you look good."

I agree with that too.
and I agree that at least some of the peopl who are being foreclosed on, are completely at fault.
but that is not the cause of this.
predatory loans, mendacious and deleterious practices by the federal reserve, and pro-corporation laws passed (or anti-corp laws repealed) by the government is what is mostly at fault.
so when the big guys pick on the little guys to line their pockets, i know whose side i am on.

also "why are you so opposed to *this*" as I'm sure you knew
Darwyn, I'm not sure how you declare game, set and match without finding out whether I think its right for these companies to be getting bailouts. I won't dispute the quote you gave there. I don't like that either.
Sicarius (673 D)
01 Apr 09 UTC
also how am I being hypocritical?
I said it is not my place to judge others. its not. who am I to judge anyones personal beliefs?
that doesnt stop me form doing it, everyone judges whether conscious or not.
I'm not claiming I dont judge people, I'm just saying its not as if I hold some lofty moral high ground to do it from.

also can we please god not do the +1 thing
Darwyn (1601 D)
01 Apr 09 UTC
huh? I didn't declare game, set and match. I asked you a question, and then stated my opinion.

It seems we are in agreement then.

I can't say I'm surprised. Actually, I expected Sicarius to be at the G-20 protests in the UK. Nothing is more hilarious then seeing British riot cops beat the shit out of a bunch of fruity protesters.

Big whoop about making the news. I made the local news when I coordinated a CAP search when our squadron commander was out of town.
Sicarius (673 D)
01 Apr 09 UTC
actually the g-20 protestors are kicking ass.

really, gee I would love to see that clip, so we know you're not completly full of shit, and making it up.

and its not about being on the news, its about what we're doing. being on the news just means I can show other people instead of just telling them about it
DipperDon (6457 D)

This isn't about Diplo1824.

So, answer my question please. Do you believe that people who fail to make monthly payments on cars should be able to keep their cars? Are you ready to say "screw the banks" on auto payments?

If so, what about those who are not making payments on refrigerators, big screen tvs, and washing machines?
And college loans and small business loans?
Sicarius (673 D)
01 Apr 09 UTC
I wont say whether they should be able to keep their cars and other shit, but I wont be risking anything myself to help them with that
Why Sicarius? How is that line arbitrarily drawn in your head? Instead of letting people their homes they couldn't afford, let the bank sell them, and with whatever principal is left, they can get an apartment. Still a roof over their head. Why keep them in homes they will never be able to afford? Or go live in public housing.
Sicarius (673 D)
01 Apr 09 UTC
are you suggesting that people are being foreclosed on solely through fault of their own?
because thats certainly what it sounds like
Are you suggesting a loan holiday where no one can ever be evicted from their homes again, so no one should pay their mortgage? because thats certainly what it should like
DipperDon (6457 D)

"I wont say whether they should be able to keep their cars and other shit"

Why not? I thought you were for "people not profit"??

Why not DJ, the lenders just got a loan holiday
And I'm not in favor of that either trip.
trip (696 D(B))
01 Apr 09 UTC
OK, but you seem to put all the blame on the regular folk but half of them wouldn't have gotten the loans if the banks weren't playing both sides of the fence.
Invictus (240 D)

If you want to stop foreclosures you need to do it through legal means. You won't actually accomplish anything this way through blocking sheriff sales and such, it just gets you arrested and the people still lose their home.

But if it makes you feel good, go ahead. Just don't expect results or not to get thrown in jail.
trip, yes, i blame people for ruining their lives. i blame the banks for ruining the economy.
Invictus (240 D)

That logic is perfect, DingleberryJones. There's so much blind demagoguery in this thread.
Sicarius (673 D)
01 Apr 09 UTC
we're doing it through legal means as well.
our first big campaign is to call the sheriff for a mortorium (sp) on forclosures
Invictus (240 D)

Support Hold on Move
Just a question I was wondering about. If you move a army(1) into another army(2) (without support, thus does nothing), and army(3) tries to support hold army(1), does army(1) get the support hold bonus when someone tries to invade it with 1 army with 1 support army?

Embarrassed to ask...
.....but this is my first game here. How do the pull-down menus for the moves work? For example, if I want to move and chose that, where do I find the options for WHERE to move? The FAQ doesn't seem to give much detail on the mechanics of the site.

Thanks in advance!

Quit/Surrender option
I'm fairly new to this site, but in a few games already I've really seen the need for a surrender option. In these 48 hour turn games, it's unbearable to wait the full turn limit for retreats when the player is obviously giving up on the game. I know not everyone would use it, but for those who are nice enough to quit when they don't feel like playing instead of wasting all of our time i think it would be great.

Is it possible to start a private game over or delete it?
Hey guys, my friends and I have started a private game but we have a problem. The move deadline is soon and a player has dropped out. While i have a replacement i would rather not let that country hold for the first turn so is there anyway to delete the game or restart it so we can start with a fresh slate? thanks!
