Sultan,
While the Pontiff regrets the circumstances that place you in conflict with his neighbor, the course that appears to be set for battles to the east of Italy.
While it is not our place to instruct nations how to interact with each other, it is undeniable that were the rule of the Dual Monarchy overthrown, the Ottoman Empire would have few options for further expansion. You, as I, are in an unenviable position, with much of the future set inevitably in motion. Our choices have been made for us by others, and as frustrating as that may be, I see no solutions in the short term that can act in a way to reassure both our great nations. The Pontiff truly has little choice but to increase his own naval strength this year, and he fully understands that the Ottomans will likely do the same.
However, while the future to a degree seems set, the Pope is more than aware that Man is a fallible creation, and is open to other options.
