Man attacked by Panda
Every year it seems there are numerous stories about people in zoos climbing over fences and moats to get at the animals and than attacked by the animal. In parks people try to feed or pet wild animals with the same results. Than there are cases of domesticated animals being teased till the animal finds a way to get at the person. These events are in the news, signs are posted etc. What the hell are these people thinking! To many Disney Movies? What?

Removing /commands from chat
I think that any line sent in the global chat that starts with a "/" should not be shown in the text. Obviously it will be parsed as a command, and if it is a valid command then the text is not needed as a Gamemaster message is sent instead. As it is, the system gets rather messy as you get lots of lines just saying /pause followed by the system response.

EOG statement - "UN variant"
EOG statement for the “UN variant” game (http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=5933). The game is based on the idea that treaties can be published in global tab, and in that case they are “enforceable” by the UN (i.e.: if they are broken the guilty player will be sanctioned).

His Royal Majesty, King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British Dominions beyond the Seas, Defender of the Faith, and Emperor of India, announces his intentions to perform naval exercises in the North and Norwegian Seas this spring. He trusts that the French will not make aggressive maneuvers into the English Channel, as such a gesture would threaten the loyal British subjects on the coast of England.

The King appreciates the humor of the German rumor-mongering and looks forward to future relations between our two great nations.

His majesty is grateful for the Russian gifts of Vodka and caviar. Expect a shipment of assorted fineries from Cape Town, Sydney, and Bombay to arrive in Moscow shortly.

I cannot stress the danger of an Aggressive Russo-Turkish alliance to Germany enough. Russia, having conquered Austria, will surely turn on the fatherland with all his strength. This is a sad war that threatens, but by no means a little one.
Centurian (3257 D)
30 Oct 08 UTC
As founders of the German business model we would like to stress incentives.
To France/England: Whoever opens to the Channel we will gladly support into Belgium the immediate next turn.
To Russia/Turkey: If Russia opens to the black sea, we will give him Sweden (how nice of us). If Turkey opens to the Black sea we shall show our support by denying Russia sweden.

No need to tell me what you are going to do right now. Actions speak louder than words. Also, sorry to twist arms western neighbours, but I can't detail proper battleplans to convince you just yet in the forum. But our mutual enemy will surely be blitzkreiged.
Well, this is just war mongering by an obvious German/Austrian alliance....AUstria accuses both Russia and myself of aggression, yet he calls on other nations to wage war against us. Germany is audacious enough to think that the nations of the world are courting his allegiance as he exhorts any side to break areas of Demilitarization. Germany words are akin to those of a street prostitute who will court anyone who would favor her.

War mongering. In Diplomacy!

This is quite Clearly a game of Total peace, if only it wasn't for Austria wanting war, after all Austria is the Only person in such a strong defensive position that he is so Certain that he doesn't care about the possibility of war.

If Turkey and Russia are peaceful with one another, they must be allies, there is no avoiding it. To prepare Europe against this threat in simple sense.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

Look, stab Russia, be stabbed by Russia, or face the wrath of Europe against you. It may be too late for me, but it will come, you can be sure of that.
Centurian (3257 D)
30 Oct 08 UTC
Dear Sultan of Turkey,

I, Chancellor of Germany, do politely disagree with your assertion that I am a whore. I honestly believe that everyone should be courting my allegiance because I put out results. Dirty dirty results.

My offer of a division of peacekeeping troops in Greece stands. If both Austria and Turkey are concerned about the growth of the other, placing that territory under our protection offers you both a means of denying territory to your adversary without needing to garrison it yourself.

Erm... with only a few minutes left before this season ends, it may seem a slight bit late to begin communications, but it is surely more dangerous to give the appearance of being without government. I fear that the nations of Germany and England, being unlikely to read this before it is too late, will be tempted to move against me early, believing that I am absent and will provide them with easy early expansion. Certainly Germany has suggested that this may be favorable.
Thus, I would like to state now that I will be taking the defensive measures of moving to the English Channel and to Burgundy so as to ascertain that I will not end up in a greatly unfavorable position after this first turn. Once this move is concluded, I will be happy to move out of said territories, with apologies and the hopes that my neighbors will understand my caution.
MJT123 (738 D(S))
31 Oct 08 UTC
England reissues it's earlier caution to France regarding the English Channel.
Centurian (3257 D)
31 Oct 08 UTC
Germany would also caution France. You should probably move to picardy instead
MJT123 (738 D(S))
31 Oct 08 UTC
Well, Chancellor, with the French rearing their heads only to openly declare aggressive action against us both and then neglect to respond to our timely replies urging caution, it seems we should band together to ensure they stay in their place. I urge you to consider repelling the French from Burgundy and supporting the King's fleet into Belgium this autumn.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
31 Oct 08 UTC
Chancellor, I think you should take heed of the advice from Richard Sharp, who said that "The Anschluss is to my mind by far the best approach for Germany", and stop the expansion of Russia by bouncing him out of Sweden. It is a statistical certainty that doing this improves your chances at the expense of the Czar, and the Czar alone. When Russia and Turkey are so totally confident of one another's allegiance, we must act together.
Centurian (3257 D)
31 Oct 08 UTC
Well your highness, I did tell you to move to the channel... but I also told France not to move to burgundy, quite the dilema. You will be moving the Kings fleet in North sea to belgium? I can't guarantee you that I'll support it in as France might respond by taking Munich, which nobody wants. But I'd move there anyway for sure. I will be keeping Ruhrs move private for the time being.

As for you sir Czar. I will allow you access to Sweden if you make me a rational argument to accept you. The archduke has made his, so lacking an argument from your side I will be following through with my incentive model/threat.
MJT123 (738 D(S))
31 Oct 08 UTC
Yes Chancellor, the fleet currently in the North Sea will be attempting to maneuver into Belgium. The King's Army shall remain in the homeland to protect London. France will have to decide whether he thinks you will support the King's Fleet into Belgium, whereby leaving Munich open to him, or whether you will choose instead to protect your own province, leaving Belgium available to him.

France's third option, of course, is the one favored by the Crown: France could choose to make peace with all Britons and himself support the arrival of the King's emissaries in Belgium.

Perhaps this is a time to stop doubledealing and work out a more solid agreement? One that doesn't involve requesting both nations aid?
stratagos (3269 D(S))
31 Oct 08 UTC
With respect to my German colleague, the Pontiff finds your disdain for "doubledealing" to be amusing in light of your attempts to turn England against France, and Russia against Turkey
Centurian (3257 D)
31 Oct 08 UTC
Duly noted.
Centurian (3257 D)

Although to be fair, the Russia Turkey one is part of general policy to be anti-juggernaught, something I think you should appreciate.

The Pontiff reiterates his opposition to the Juggernaut, as well as his pledge of nonaggression towards Austria. He questions whether the actions of Austria have called out a Juggernaut or *provoked* it, but the die appears to have been cast.
MJT123 (738 D(S))
31 Oct 08 UTC
Nothing I did was necessarily double-dealing. Nowhere is it written that any of the three of us must fight any of the others...
The Pontiff has spoken wisely. The Austrian/German empire has tried to undermine every nations attempt to secure peaceful borders between other nations. I also fear that The Pontiff has been precongnizant in his recognition of the threat of the free flow of trade in the Mediterranean and would ask him to consider what steps may be taken this season that would reduce that threat. If no threat exists, then Turkey would have lessened need to improve its own naval position.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
31 Oct 08 UTC
Sultan,

While the Pontiff regrets the circumstances that place you in conflict with his neighbor, the course that appears to be set for battles to the east of Italy.

While it is not our place to instruct nations how to interact with each other, it is undeniable that were the rule of the Dual Monarchy overthrown, the Ottoman Empire would have few options for further expansion. You, as I, are in an unenviable position, with much of the future set inevitably in motion. Our choices have been made for us by others, and as frustrating as that may be, I see no solutions in the short term that can act in a way to reassure both our great nations. The Pontiff truly has little choice but to increase his own naval strength this year, and he fully understands that the Ottomans will likely do the same.

However, while the future to a degree seems set, the Pope is more than aware that Man is a fallible creation, and is open to other options.

TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
31 Oct 08 UTC
The schizophrenic leader of the Dual Monarchy envies everyone else on the board.

GFTD - Where the games to be WTA or PPSC?
Not that it makes a real difference, as the pot is 5 and the idea is to have the scores calculated by the llama, anyhow. Yet... there was an indication to follow or was it free for us to choose? (I ask since my 2 games are one WTA and one PPSC...)
