As far as I recall, Sarg was never given a life ban, he was repeatedly banned because he returned without asking first. It's pretty clear from the fact that Wjessop was on the site for so long and never cheated in-game that he's grown out of doing that - his rule-breaking was to return to the site, not to cheat on it. I don't see any reason why he should be on a perma-ban given that players like Sandgoose are not.

Additionally, Agent K has a perma-ban because the mods decided to open it up to a community vote (which was a terrible idea) - he definitely was never going to cheat again when he made his appeal, something like 2 or 3 years after he was banned, but certain loud forum members decided that reform is not possible, and since the forum at that point was very much 'loudest opinion wins', the moderators caved to them and perma-banned him.

As a relative newbie, reading this thread is like reading an inside joke where I have no clue what's going on.

That's actually not true, Kestas stepped in for the first time pretty much ever and just said no on the forum and that was the end of that.

As for Sarg, the conceptual problem is that he is the single worst cheater in site history. If you let him back after a year then how can you really justify making anyone else wait even that long, much less having a perma ban on anyone else. Dozens upon dozens of games ruined, high class games and tournaments disrupted, and constant lies throughout the entire process. Literally hundreds of members were impacted by 1 person's lies. So no, a 2nd chance really does not seem fair given all that.

Not to mention that one of the times he tried to come back he was threatening litigation against the site and me personally because I remembered his real name from an in game message where he'd told it to me years before.

As for the entire premise of this thread. The rules flat out state that appeals will not be considered if asked for by other members, and that mods will never disclose another members appeal process.

And just a reminder, not a mod, speaking as a member here.

Sandgoose's cheating was extremely limited in actual games and minimally disruptive. Which was posted on the forum by the mod team when they allowed him back. Not a good comparison at all.

No it's totally wild, everytime someone says anything you pretend to have fake authority on it without knowing or even trying to understand the context of the discussion - as you did the time I complained about getting a warning. Soren if I read something dumb that you say and want to criticize it, that's my right - not my fault you say so much dumb shit everywhere.

@DO, I happen to know everything about the Sarg case, and the sadgoose case. They were mine, Zultar's and goldie's. And I find it important that members understand just what a massive impact sarg's level of cheating had on the site.

And I put that statement there to clarify for members because I have a checkerboard for development tools and I don't want anyone getting confused. If a new member reads someone who has a hover over icon that says (Moderator/Admin) say they believe someone should have a life ban I don't want them to take that as the mod teams position. Which was something I discussed with Zultar because he and the other mods/admins and myself were worried about that exact possible confusion. However I need some of the tools having the cube provides, because when the site crashes or runs into problems guess who fixes it, that'd be me or one of the admins I'm training on server maintenance.

But as for not having a clue, while I'm not a mod I wrote the last set of rules, and consulted with the current team on this iteration. Most importantly though, I can read English and they are designed for just about anyone to be able to understand. Yet op's like this show that effort isn't taken by many members.
