Limited to civilian people, military does not count. Overall, from all areas of the country. Two rules, cannot say your own country or a country you have never actually been to or only heard of.

Trump hires cheap foreign workers

Trump saves money by hiring cheap foreign workers. Does minimum legal requirement to get them instead of US workers.

Can anyone defend socialism?
Can anyone defend the idea that "government" can produce a better society by diminishing individual freedom in exchange for increased socialist imposition of government power on the individual?

freedom from poverty and from illness are fantasies. human nature prevents the cure for the first. nature prevents the latter.

shock, your points may be valid, but you are droll and obtuse.
TrPrabo, could you provide a specific example of what you are talking about. If you read my statement I define socialism as the imposition of government power on the individual that decreases their individual freedom. You may have your own definition of socialism. I would appreciate a specific example of what you are talking about, and does it make society better. I'm more than willing to agree if convinced.

besides, your are probably one of the 49% who pay little or no federal income tax. the tax you pay is for your own social safety net when you turn 65 or 66; and even that is insufficient for what the actual cost will be to the 'taxpayer'.

My definition for socialism would be "public ownership of the means of production," but I've been that that's just "Marxist rhetoric."

I've been told that by self-avowed socialists that is.

Silk Road reopened trade and cooperation and he was very religiously tolerant.
The fact that all of Washington's men volunteered for duty and weren't conscripted is an example of the individual freedom vs socialism I'm talking about. Definitely superior to a conscripted force. When has an army of American draftees been superior to American volunteers? Exactly my point. The American officer corps from West Point is all volunteer and arguably the finest in the world.

Lincoln, one of American history's most notable industrialists, hit a low point when he approved a draft during the Civil War.

This seems like a troll thread. But in the event that it's not, and Stormtrooper wants to be taken seriously,

@stormtrooper - I think others have alluded to this, but you seem to be conflating two concepts. I deduce that you're either a troll, an AnCap, or both. "Socialism" and "government" aren't the same thing. Both limit freedom, sure, but the former is a species, while the latter is the genus. There are other kinds of government that limit freedoms (for example, speed limits, or laws against theft). The existence of speed limits doesn't make a regime socialist, does it? Unless you're trolling, a better question might be: does the extent to which a socialist government limits freedom really produce a more virtuous and happy citizenry than other forms of government?

(PS: As an American constitutional conservative, I think the socialist outlook doesn't work in the long run. Either way, Stormtrooper should rephrase his question, because it'll produce better discussion (or continued trolling). Carry on.)

Food for thought:
Check out this article, and the studies the author cites, if you're interested in seeing some of the attempts to replace naturally occurring institutions with centralized governmental controls.

hey, shock you hypocrite! you attack me for getting a government check and then go on a rant about the volunteer military. Well i served in that same voluntary military. Furthermore, i was too young for the draft and too old for selective service registration, still i served for eleven years of active service and another eighteen years of reserve service. in other words, i am a TOTAL volunteer. and all though my service will earn me a small pension i still have to wait until i am sixty to receive it. as for West Point, I went to Annapolis so i know who serves and how we feel about so called 'patriots' such as you! you should just zip up your lip and crawl back into the troll hole that you came from.

I got a pair of socks once, not even cool socks. Just plain white Hane's socks, not even a value pack or anything. Just a single pair, turns out they were only worth two bucks anyways.
