Quick question
Suppose you just captured a center in autumn.
If you move out of that center in winter but happen to bounce back to it, would you get a build next turn?

thanks

New sort of team game?
This will be a team game where no-one except your partner (and the arbiter) knows who you're teamed with.

Lazy, the Bible was compiled after the doctrine of the Trinity had been accepted in the Christian Church for a few hundred years. And actually, Islamic leaders are a lot more like lawyers, since they have no particular organization like priests, but instead act as individuals and issuing statements of belief (Fatwas) based on their own "professional" opinion as students of Islamic theology.
SteevoKun (588 D)
02 Nov 08 UTC
Lazy, you haven't provided evidence that they "weren't connected in anyway." All you've done is presumed your belief to be true from the beginning after starting an argument with me when I was trying to point out we should simply recognize Islam and Christianity are incompatible.
SteevoKun (588 D)

Lazy, if Allah is unitarian then why does he refer to himself as "we"?
lazysummer8484 (0 DX)
02 Nov 08 UTC
when god says 'we', it's of a poetic nature, he conveys authority and awesomeness. sometimes he uses "me" when he wants to convey love and intimate connection. it's only poetic.
SteevoKun (588 D)
02 Nov 08 UTC
Lazy, where in the Qur'an is this explicity explained?
lazysummer8484 (0 DX)
02 Nov 08 UTC
the word Al-Lah means "the god", which implies singularity

and i don't know why you believe a bunch of priests sitting across a round table about something christ, the creator of the religion never said anything about. doesn't that strike you as dubious?
lazysummer8484 (0 DX)
02 Nov 08 UTC
it's not explained.. it's in the language... it's in other languages as well... e.g. the persian language.. it was common use by kings at the time to refer themselves as "we".
i think it was probably used in old english as well: if i said "we command you to go to sleep!" sounds a lot more authoritative than "i command you to go to sleep!"

the quran is written in poetry, with rhymes and all. it's one of the main reasons it spread so quickly across the barbaric tribes of arabia.
SteevoKun (588 D)
02 Nov 08 UTC
Lazy, but you're taking something from outside the Qur'an. The Qur'an never said it so you're just making it up.

That's the exact argument you're against the idea of the Trinity, Lazy.
lazysummer8484 (0 DX)
02 Nov 08 UTC
no i told you that's in the language... i think the "we" vs "me" works in english as well.
"it was We who created the sun and the moon"
versus
"it was I who created the sun and the moon"

which sounds more awesome?
lazysummer8484 (0 DX)

"i don't want to get into athiests but it's been shown that human biology has an inborn need for a god. taht's why almost every culture has some more form diety.
i think it was voltaire who said if there was no god we would have to create him..?"

Is this a serious post...? Point me to where it's been shown that human biology predisposes one to the belief in the existence of a God, let alone in religion. You can't say every culture has some form of deity because it's not boolean. Most primitive cultures had sorts of animisms that typically resulted in polytheisms, and now they're mainly monotheisms. The theme here isn't God, it's just the supernatural.

Steevo, lazy is correct when he says that We doesn't mean a plural. It's simply a literary convention found in many languages that implies a different tone. For example, in French, you can address someone as Tu or Vous. Tu is the more personal tone and is officially singular, but Vous is officially plural as it is used to address groups of people but also a single person in a polite, formal fashion.

A friend sent me a clip from Bill Maher's show and it had a line that I found hilarious:

Bill Maher: So, why do you think these right-wingers suddenly love the Jews so much?
Amy Holmes: Well, I mean, you would know, and -
Maher: I do know, but I wanna know why you...
Holmes: A lot of conservative Christians are huge supporters of Israel -
Maher: Huge supporters. I agree. Why?
Holmes: Because they believe that's where the End of Days will happen, and they want to protect Israel.
Maher: Right. Thank you.
Holmes: They want to protect Israel from destruction, and we know this, so it's not--
Maher: Whoah, whoah, whoah. But what happens to the Jews at the End of Days?
Holmes: Well, Christians have a, uh, a certain storyline there...
Maher: What happens to the Jews at the End of Days?
Holmes: They don't go to the same place...
Maher: Yeah, they love Israel because they need the Jews to be in place when you-know-who comes back and kills them all!

No one has supported my suggestion.
I thought by now there would have been a rush of Obama supporters backing my ideal. Perhaps I should have used the figures aoe3rules stated. That would hve been more appealing to them. Per there just hung over.

Unable to break a convoy
Hi, in my game "Game of Thrones," I attacked a French fleet in the English Channel while that fleet was attempting to convoy an army into England. However, my attack on the fleet did not break the convoy - shouldn't it have?

All registrants for GFDT 2008, PLEASE READ
My computer just took a dump and when it came back up, my database of registrants was completely gone. That means if you registered before today (Saturday, November 1st) before 2:54 PM CDT (19:54 UTC), I no longer have your registration information and you'll need to re-register. I've already made changes to the registration script to have it save a backup copy remotely, so this won't happen again.

I'm really sorry about the trouble this causes anyone.

Players from the diplomacy nations?
I'm interested in trying to play a game with people representing their own nations. I am English, and am hoping to find 6 others to join me in the game. How to arrange that we all get the right countries is a question, but if needed i'll open up signups on my server. Having said that, I don't know how long it will take me to find the required players.
Any volunteers?

Rules query about convoys
This is probably a very basic question for the experts on the boards. This is the scenario. A fleet in the North Sea is convoying an army from Yorkshire to Norway (which is unoccupied). The North Sea fleet is attacked by an enemy fleet from Holland, but is not dislodged from the North Sea. Will the army succesfully arrive in Norway?
