Just tell it to roll a d20 and vote every X hours; give a pre-defined list of reasons; and have a go at the GMs after every phase change.

Random role changes? claiming and claiming galore. And we couldn't really trust any of it. I'm pretty sure there's some variant of mafia that does that already.

I'm considering a setup where half the townies have a Negative Utility role and everyone wishes they were a plain old VT for once.

@HR - Predetermined and arbitrary votes would be the easiest, yes. I'm curious if a bot could be programmed to play a bit more of an engaged game. The bot could easily analyze post counts and frequency, as well as do some kind of automatic vote tracking analysis. I imagine it could even begin to try to look for illogical statements, though I don't think AI has come that far yet.

The hard part would be having it parse the motives of other players. "Player A is sending accusatory press at player B. Player B has a higher postcount when facing accusatory press. ergo, player A is sowing chaos and is scum (or ergo: player B is folding under pressure and scum)"

Imagine the reads list though.
