Ladies and gentlemen, I implore you to listen.
Many statements have thus been said and many reads made in the past day and some, and many of you have some idea on who you suspect may be the scum, and who may be the town.
Yes, Ezio's early jokes and subsequent disappearing act is worth noticing and questioning. Yes, chaqa's plays and statements have been pretty dumb and potentially scummy, right down to his omgus on bb. Yes, civwarbuff's comments and reactions are stupid. Etc. on everyone else being voted (except Vash, who we know why he's being voted, and Moscow who I have no clue why he's being voted).
These are all good reads, and all good votes, but I ask you: is it the best vote?
I present to you the case of Maniac.
He opened up the phase with a blatant pocketing of myself. A joke in a joke phase, you think. Understandable. He then makes certain comments to the GMs, of which asking for an alphabetized list seems useful, but then follows it up with a vote on MoscowFleet for lurking at 47:39. Lurking. At 21 minutes into the game. This vote has not been rescinded or switched.
Then he starts talking about voting based on an entirely unrelated, ongoing diplomacy game. A distraction play? Some bizarre wifom? Implicit threats to the mentioned people to side with him?
Finally, he actually deigns to talk about this game itself. And his first choice of response, 7 pages in, on a side comment Jamiet made about lynching the most experienced player, revealing that said most experienced player would be himself, while simultaneously attempting to downplay the weight of his experience. Is this really relevant in any way? Is this really the kind of thing town wants to say?
But fine. He was mentioned, and he responded. But then it gets worse. His next comment is his refusal to listen to any of brainbomb's recordings, which though I also find quite annoying is vital information that any scumhunter would need.
Then he goes off topic about a wild comment chaqa made regarding bb's behavior, which is the least relevant thing that could've been said at the time. Page 10 was a frenzy of activity and the peak of brainbomb and goldie's duel.
Then he wants to kill a prolific player for absolutely no reason I can imagine, singling out brainbomb, when as others have mentioned I and even goldie have also been prolific in activity. In this same comment he mentions a needle in the haystack analogy which seems to imply that talking is bad for town. That talking is bad for town. That talking is bad for town.
"I'm starting to think town generally is dissdvantaged by too much hay which makes finding needles hard. Can we kill a prolific poster today. BB perhaps?"
And then he says we shouldn't force Vashta to contribute, claiming that he would have nothing of value to say, which is so decisively scummy that I don't even understand how to express it in words. And then after that he says voting to suss out lurkers is a waste, when it got peter and HR talking and making salient points.
Some of you may be thinking that I didn't need to point out every single comment he made. At first, I thought so too, and went back to carefully identify the comments which most identify him as scum. But after a caredul reread I found that every single thing he has said is scummy beyond belief, that if Maniac turns out to be a town player I would be the first to accuse him of game throwing. There is no way anyone is this bad of a town. I am certain he is mafia, and I hope to convince others of this read as well.
Maniac (and anyone else for that matter)'s comments may be searched on http://mafia.peterlund.se/search_form.html by typing in his name in the first box.
