People who lurk aren't scummy, they just aren't contributing to town. It is not my intention to lynch Hellenic Riot, unless he really does go the distance 48 without saying anything at all, which I think will be highly unlikely.

People who talk a lot aren't towny, but they nonetheless contribute to town, as they give more material to get reads from and more chances to slip if they're scum, as well as more useful information if they're town.

The conclusion is simple. Lurkers gotta go, and contributors stay another day where more definitive reads can be made.

I am not in the habit of throwing around my vote. This is in fact the first time I voted this session, as I thought sussing out lurkers was a worthwhile use of it in the interim. I assure you that if I still think Maniac is the most scummy player near day's end I will be voting for him.

Since you were the person to ask this last time too, let me make absolutely clear: my policy lynch of lurkers and useless speakers is a specifically day 1 (though given how large this game is perhaps it can be extended to day 2) policy, and I do not mean to push this same policy in subsequent days. Unless you are absolutely certain one of the prolific contributors or even the middling group, do not lynch them. It is helpful in the long run. If what I am saying is in any way unclear or nonsensical to you say so now, because I honestly see no reason to oppose this as *policy*. It would be one thing if you wanted to lynch a specific prolific player, but that's not what you're saying, is it?

Aside from brainbomb and goldfinger who have simply talked too much to exclude, I think Jamiet and MoscowFleet have made comments that aren't just noise.

@xorxes as I previously stated (which you would know if you read the thread) it was not his original comment of "so anyways" I found scummy but how he chose to follow it up. I made the temporary call that nobody can be that bad at mafia if that's a scum slip, so I've put him aside for now. All of this is available for perusal on my previous posts.

When you said "The argument against civ for starting with "So, anyways..." was... imaginative", all I heard was a sarcastic "what brilliant insight!" harshly criticizing the read. Since, despite my not wanting to lynch him now, I think it's a significnt tell I don't know why you would simply dismiss the entire thing so easily. And since I can't see a good town reason to do so, I put a tick under probably scummy behaviour.

@brain … yeah, ghug is on vacation. Was that supposed to be a joke throwing him under the bus for being on vacation or are you actually trying to throw him under the bus for being on vacation? How is Tom different this game? I noticed the same thing but I want your explanation.

As for your point about PR hunting, no, we should not deduce VTs versus PRs. This conversation happens in every single game and the answer is always very simple: every tidbit of information you get about a potential PR is information that mafia gets about potential PRs, and you should not be giving them that. Those PRs are far more important to find for mafia than they are to town, and if we happen to have one on the block, hopefully they can shuffle their way out of it without having to claim. That’s their job, not the job of VTs.

I voted for Ezio because I felt his jokes were forced, by the way, as if he felt like he had to participate in the stupid part of the game. I have never felt that way as town. Waiting 5-10 pages is easy enough. He also made some comments that I thought were a little bit off but I’m particularly concerned with pressuring him so we hear more, not casting a judgment.

Last point to you - why are you flooding the thread? Get the fuck out of the way and let the town do work instead of distracting us all. If you keep that up in this game like you have in the past, I’m just going to make sure you get lynched early so that we can do what we’re supposed to do.

Well, I am at a hotel and the Internet on my room sucks. I am reading and posting this at cafeteria, so don't expect much. Vash deserves to be lynched, but I don't think he is scum. He usually don't give a shit for the game when he is not scum or PR.

Okay, so I guess I will make an actual substantial post to clarify what is going on and like the Indiana Jones Films, it comes in three parts.

PART ONE:
So there are a number reason why I will not be posting much if at all THIS PHASE (this does not apply to this phase):
1. Because last time I was active ya’ll decided to lynch me and it seems anything I say can only hurt me, so if that’s going to happen I may as well only speak when I’m pretty damn sure of something or have an important observation,, neither of which occur day 1 because ....
2. My day 1 reads are terrible so going throughout the day trying to find scum will not only likely get me killed but not catch scum and accidentally mislead the town. But I usually get on the right track around late day 2 or end of night 2, so I may as well pay attention but not say much until then.
3. It is actually easier to analyze a game when none of it is directly in response to you as you are less likely to let confirmation bias take hold or subconsciously OMGUS, so maybe this will make my reads better.
4. I really like Jamie not posting, though I do wish bb agreed to not post until I post again too. Then again if he did too, I probably wouldn’t have written this up.

Anyway that’s why I’m not posting a lot if at all today. Fuck you if you vote me after this explanation mainly because…

PART TWO:
Here are the reasons why you shouldn’t lynch me:
1. As anyone who read God QT from last game https://www.quicktopic.com/52/H/tYys3fesSsUZe. I said that I would never be active early on again (Post number 11). As such it’s pretty clear I was planning to do this regardless of alignment and as such this does not indicate I am scum in the slightest.
2. I can actually be useful when I make it past day 2. Usually out of necessity I either start finding mafia or organize the town in order to try and save us all before someone fucks it up (usually Jamie or Vecna) for everyone. Good examples are Mafia 8 where I pretty much saved the town and got the werewolf as a VT, Mafia 18 where I got all the mafia and managed to work with ghost teacon before Jamie was a fucking idiot and the town didn’t listen to me after I died, and the Division one where I was the only one trying to save the town and thought we had a chance before Vecna screwed everyone with infections. As such maybe lynch someone who isn’t as useful
3. If I’m scum I will continue to lurk far past day 2 or 3 as I do in every fucking game I’m scum and can’t seem to overturn because I always get afraid of being found out so I decide to just...not post.
4. If you don’t lynch me the mafia may NK me for suspecting me of being a PR, since I also lurk when I’m one of those.
5. Lynching me is useless for info. Will my wagon really tell you that much even if I’m scum? Hint, it doesn’t when I have almost no interactions with anyone and I’m a wonderful mafia to bus since I suck at being mafia. You may as well lynch someone you can get some direction from whatever way they flip. Which brings me to….

PART THREE:
Why I am voting bb and will continue to:
1. I always love lynching bb, he makes threads long and I can never read all his posts anyway.
2. He seems weird(er) this time, getting into pointless fights, tunneling, and more importantly, mentioning people who aren’t even in the game like ghug. Not much and it’s probably wrong but eh, better than not voting.
3. I have to vote for someone (or can I just unvote and end the day like that without getting “modkilled”? ##CallGM can I?)

Vash, you think bb is off too? Like, I always find brain to be kinda scummy, but this game feels really different, even in just ~10 pages. It's like I ate something bad and it's making me feel queasy, except it's mafia.

The only person who has given me much inclination that they may be Mafia to this point in the game is Goldfinger. I dislike Peterlund's quick trigger finger on me, but as of yet I do not think that I have much to go off of with him. Unlike rdrivera, Maniac has made no impression on me thus far, but he would know better than I.

Ah yes, I see this game is going exactly like every single other d1 goes. A few people whining about how they were treated last game or in general (Maniac, Vash); a few people trying to pressure me despite knowing full well I never say much early in the game (xorxes).

I'm sure brainbomb used gambler's fallacy on rdrivera just to bait me because of the game where I called him out on it. And I'm impressed the Snowy has already made more posts this game than half the scum team did combined altogether last game. Not bad.
