I don't think private information has any place in mafia. By using evidence from discord to nail me for voting for meme, Vash did just that. That caused the whole D2 spirit of the game argument.

He gloated about the fact to me after my death, I snapped at him and told him I was bringing it to the council. And somehow that put in his mind that meme was 100% town and demon had to modkill meme instead of replace.

I must have missed all of that. Was that really a thing?

But as we discussed in private recently, Vash is all for using any and every tactic possible to benefit himself, regardless of its effects on the game.

I don't think it really breaks any rules. I've often justified in my head reads on Vash based on his activity, which I can correlate based on how much he plays Hearthstone... same as if I see like you, meme, HR, etc. on Steam playing Civ or some shit.

Somewhat relevant rules. It's against the rules to discuss the game or have in-game conversations outside the thread. It's not against the rules to have out-of-game or refer to out-of-game discussions inside the thread.

I dislike that activity. And justifying to yourself is one thing, but introducing that information to the thread adds a different element to the game.

There's all kinds of things like that. Just knowing people better helps you read them. Experience, playing Diplomacy with them... there's not ever really a level playing field.

People vote for Balduran for lurking. Snowy comes after the people voting for him saying "Hey, his grandmother is in the hospital and he's been visiting. Give him a break". Is that fair? Should that be allowed? Who in their right mind would keep a vote on Balduran in that situation? It's the use of private information to expunge or damn a person. Where in the premise of mafia is that within the spirit of the game?

I mean, think of it this way gold. No matter what, outside info will color what your reads of people are, and there will be an asymmetry of information. Which is more reasonable,essentially lying about your reads, or decreasing that asymmetry of information by sharing it.
