ever notice with women
they're either not really ready and there's more friction than maybe you'd like, or it's a slip-n'-slide? why a binary function? has anyone else noticed that?

Any Debaters?
So, really simple topic. Are there any past/current High school/College debaters here? I'd just like to see how prevalent debate (specifically in the NFL [National Forensic League]) in this community is. Post below with your event (LD, PuFo) and status please! :)

Do muted threads still take up room on the home page? I really have no idea what the cutoff is for how many/what posts make it to the home page.
Just wondering if anyone knew.

Distinction Between Draws
It could just be me, but my indifference to number of points and focus on %'s of wins/draws etc stops me caring so much about the number of participants in a draw, and much more willing to try to solo with the possibility for a large draw, than just have a smaller draw, thoughts?

Seriously though, this is kinda big for Obama. Not quite as much for Romney in my opinion; those who are voting for business are already swayed. Simply put Obama doesn't get business but Romney doesn't get governing.

Still, based on polls, Obama would win the White House as of today. In the words of the greatest political comedian I know of, Obama hopes he can put a bit of Joe Biden in a joint and smoke it tonight.

What do you guys think? I personally don't care; neither one of these guys will do shit for us if you ask me...
Gunfighter06 (224 D)

I think that a Romney White House would be slightly less awful than another four years of Obama, so my vote is going to Governor Romney. If we're going to spend an assload of money we might as well spend it on something useful like defense, not squander it on welfare and education.

@bosox -- Uhhh...what polls are you looking at? I can find polls that say Romney wins.

http://unskewedpolls.com/

This polling data is supposed to be corrected for the oversampling of Democrats that many polls use (i.e. they use Dem/Rep turn-outs from 2008 to weigh their sampling, instead of a more rational view, considering 2010 turnouts and other factors.

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/765598564/CU-forecasters-predict-a-Romney-presidency.html

And here is the story about the Colorado University professors that use a mathematical model using real state-by-state economic data which accurately predicts elections go back many elections...predicts a Romney solid victory.

I know it angers me. They wouldnt be where they are today without an education.

Education should NOT cost an assload of money...and any decent study will show that increase in spending *rarely* equates to a better education for the students.

Sorry about using fuck. But take this advice from an outsider: the US military are well-funded.
krellin (80 DX)

WSe woudl gladly defund the military if our fucking European allies had enough balls to secure oil by themselves, instead of relying on us to do it.

Libya, my friend, was a European-need -- Libya sources most of it's oil to Europe, and you needed US might to secure it.
Tyran (914 D)

Take it from someone who knows...cutting funds for schools leads to fewer teachers which means larger classes which means LESS education and MORE work for teachers who already have small enough salaries!

@Tyran -- sorry, pal...you are simply wrong. Cutting funding should NOT mean cutting teachers...it should mean cutting *waste*....such as electronic white boards, for example, and other excessive, often little-used technology. Or...omg...give the teacher a pay cut, like the REST of society took the last 5 years!
krellin (80 DX)
16 Oct 12 UTC
@redhouse Yes - we use a lot of gas. OUr landmass is huge. None the less, Libya provides most of it's oil to Europe...and the war i whcih we "led from behind" was to secure oil resources for Europe, which DOES use gas, my friend. Your implied argument with your littel posted link was lame at best
krellin (80 DX)
16 Oct 12 UTC
We also feed people around the world and provide military protection for most of our "allies"...I'm all for putting an end to that.
redhouse1938 (429 D)

You know with just a little bit of that defense budget I can help you clear out those typos.
Tyran (914 D)
16 Oct 12 UTC
Krellin teachers hardly get payed enough to put up with the shit they do in schools. And I've seen class sizes increase by large amounts in the past few years. There are also schools that can't afford all those magical white boards. What do they cut? They cut music and arts courses. Foreign language and teachers.
ulytau (541 D)

I don't know about you, but I get my oil from Russia and pay well fo it. That's, you know, market economy. Try securing that, Rambo.

Also, Qaddafi was one of the most reliable suppliers, as all experienced autocrats are - being reliable is a must in long-term geopolitics. The invasion might've shuffled the income statements of vested corporations but was hardly necessary to ensure Southern Europe gets its oil. If anything, they would need actual cash to buy it, as I don't see BP supplying it for free.

Not to mention that many Americans don't want to defund the military. It's not like Gunfighter is some outlier. Such Americans like their military strong, regardless the foreign situation. Even if Europe raised defense budgets, they wouldn't support defunding the military. Hard power is the source of American hegemony and no military expenditures are high enough when there are still enemies out there, they argue.
Tyran (914 D)
16 Oct 12 UTC
Gaddafi* I think.
krellin (80 DX)
16 Oct 12 UTC
tyran - you probably have deficient math skills...but if you divide salary by hours worked to get an hourly rate, and then multiply a teachers hourly rate by a "standard" full time work year, teachers get paid *extremely* well! This whole sob story about how bad teachers have it...give me break. You suck that union diatribe up like it's candy...
