For what reason was Thucydides made a mod in the first place?

I ask that earnestly and without malice or jest. I ask because some mods here have a really obvious positive effect on the enjoyment of this website: Geofram, yebellz, abgemacht, fortknox, whereas Thucydides' contribution seems, on the face of it, to be mostly that of a forum troll.

@sarg - Mods really don't have a set role on the forum. There "job" is to handle cheating accusations and keep the games running smoothly. For that, Thucy did an outstanding job and will again when he returns. Oh, and you haven't even been here a year yet think you are in a position to judge a long-standing member (4 years for Thucy) based on your 9 months experience here?

I know my petty 9 months will never stand up to Thucydides wonderous 4 year relationship with this website but I think I can at least ask and raise this. As I said, I wasn't being rude or malicious. The forums are not really monitored so there is no reason a mod shouldn't be able to troll idiots as much as the next member so long as the actual mod work is being finished.

Where have you come from with this jmo? I didn't ask about a role in terms of the forum. I asked about him as a mod. I know the forums aren't moderated, quite clearly not. You have confused yourself by what I said of Thucydides and that the only effect I see him having is being a forum troll - which is, obviously, nothing to do with his role as a moderator (well, at least one would hope).
