why not just put up a couple advertisments on the sides? that don't move to the middle, and aren't advertisments for Viagra or sexy latin singles ect ect.

Ads won't make the site money - you need to click on the ad to generate money and who is going to click on an ad while they are busy stabbing Germany (no ref to the gaming I am in currently - luv u Ger)? Even if 100 people did click on the ads that would only bring in a couple dollars. Donations are the way to go.

Worked for me. I also like the idea of a countdown, or at least an occasional update to the outstanding requirement.

Geofram...again.....lighten up. First of all, the call for placing ads was discussed in depth recently, and *clearly* the decision was made for a more visible donation button, and a call for funds; and likewise, the call for placing ads was rejected. So....his call for ads was uncalled for....

Second....lighten the hell up, man. I did the obligatory :P which, in the world of the internet, implies that the comment was light hearted and not intended to offend. Maybe you take such offense on his behalf because you are a parasite yourself???

That all being said....anybody that spends a regular amount of time on this site who claims they can't cough up a couple bucks I *do* believe is a parasite. I guarantee every single person that claims that they can *not* make a donation, that it is just impossible, are liars. first and foremost, they posted that claim on a computer (which costs $$) over an internet connection (which costs $$$) and I guarantee that at least once a month they eat out, eat more than they should, buy something they don't need, go to the movies, *something* that is self-indulgent and is not an absolute necessity of life. But, instead of foregoing some selfish desire for a single month and paying into the site which they spend their time on for free....they instead choose to be a parasite and suck off the work of others.

As I suggested in another thread...it would be a very interesting study to examine the donation track-record of "liberals/socialists" versus "conservatives".

I never said I supported ads, I've consistently even supported arguments against them.
