Community Reinvestment Act
If you do not know about this act, first passed in 1977 during the Carter administration and updated significantly during the Clinton adminstration, you should because it has had enormous impact on the United States.

This Time On Philosophy Weekly: Dawkins, Hitchens, and The New Atheists Get Heir Turn
I'm going to try something different with this week's go-around, as I think a few people believe me to be overly-agressive in pushing my opinions and also because this is a topic I've put off doing for a while now, as not a fan of the New Atheist movement, but not knowledgable enough about the particulars to try and tackle it. So, I aim to be more the receiver here, and I ask two questions, both inside--and I'll get my education from you all. ;)

Kids...
I hate the way that they get really quiet when you're putting in your diplomacy moves and when you get up to check on them (because quiet kids are synonymous with kids getting into trouble) and you find them throwing things into the toilet.

Yesterday I woke up after hearing the kids play in their room at 5:30 to find that one of them took off their diaper and thought it was a novel idea to do various things with their poop and top it off by peeing on his crib.

I know this HAS to have been asked before, but...
I joined a gunboat game in place of a cheater who was banned in S01. The message saying the cheater was banned can't be read, so I get the notification at the top. My OCD senses are tingling. Is there any recourse for this interesting situation?

Some statistics:
- The new Chinese MBT, SVU54 "该造雨 (The Rainmaker)" outclasses the Abrams by a factor of at least 4 in head to head combat (Tianjin Square anyone?)
- For every US rifleman there are at least 23 Chinese rifleman not only willing to die for China and Mao but better equipped and better trained (Source: Jane's International Defence Review)
- Nianjing has stated that they are prepared to use nuclear arms on America

I'm sorry, but you have to admit that the age of America is dead (get over it) and that the age of Chinese democracy is about to take over. Get on board or get out of the way.

Unless the Chinese have somehow made the Three Gorges Dam immune to nuclear weapons, the Chinese won't be doing anything to seriously threaten the United States (or Russia).

How does the Chinese navy compare with US? I have read that it is a long way behind.
Invictus (240 D)

It's around 11 aircraft carriers behind.

Seriously, Chinese democracy?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))

Also, I feel like the US might default on our debt to the Chinese if they hit us with "nuclear arms".

Maybe Ulysses is just a big Guns N' Roses fan.
And I hear their air force isn't up to snuff with our newest fighters either. I hope those tanks are missile proof too, otherwise they won't mean a thing. Plus, all those troops are in china, not on North America, so unless we go to them, why should we worry? Its not like they can get over here without being shot down or sunk lol

Economics & diplomacy > military. There's no use for warfare if:
a) most western countries (and therefore most likely the UN) will condemn China for using nuclear weapons or invading another foreign countries
b) China's economy is dependent upon imports/exports. If other countries raise their prices and/or refuse to buy, China's economy (which is about the size of two Californias) will crash.

When you can't tell if the original poster is either trolling or just incredibly stupid, does it really make a difference?

If you argue back, you're either feeding a troll or just dealing with an idiot.

It would be interesting to see how eager a nation of parents with only one child would be to embark on a real war with large scale casualties. But then the members of the political class who would make this decision would not have any children actually in the line of fire.
Octavious (2701 D)

It would also be interesting to see if such a war would help to heal the huge ethinic devides China suffers from, or whether the country would fall apart under the pressure. Not that it could ever happen, of course. Major wars are bad for business.

5/10. You cited sources, but overall a poor presentation.

Definitely China will not outtake U.S military i next 3 years...3 decads maybe more feasible - around year 2050. PLAGF are technology far behind U.S for instance: moreover PLAGF equipment was manufactured in 1980 - 2000, even though they were updated, most would survive long in war. PLAN is also much more weaker, they have just relisted ex Ukrainian aircraft carrier Varyag; homemade aircraft carrier is planed to be made around 2020 (76 000 displacement). PLAAF with its F20 Stealth Fighter is still on developing stage. Moreover C4ISR system is not developed.

"The new Chinese MBT, SVU54 "该造雨 (The Rainmaker)" outclasses the Abrams by a factor of at least 4 in head to head combat "

lpease define this 'factor' of 4, is it four times more likely to survive in a one-on-one head on combat? Does the number of tanks matter? (so in a 2-on-1 combat will the 2 Abrams lose still but only by a factor of 2??) Does the cost of building the tank come into effect to estimate the number of tanks available to each military?

And lastly, how many nukes does it take to remove the densely populated Chinese manufacturing centers|?

Ever heard of power projection? Even Donald Rumsfeld has admitted that the Rainmaker will make the Abrams obsolete.
Invictus (240 D)
26 Jun 11 UTC
Oh, so that means it's true. Donald Rumsfeld's never been wrong.
Kingdroid (219 D)
26 Jun 11 UTC
Even donald rumsfield's admitted.

In any case, it doesn't really matter whether their tanks make ours obsolete. We won't war them, and if we did they'd have to land their tanks on our land. lol, good luck with that.

And we have overtaken the soviet millitary a long time ago. Does it matter? When have we fought russia or ever will? No the wars of the now are fought with economies, and while america itself may not be doing so great, american business is still the top of the world

Invictus (240 D)

How would there being more Christians change things, exactly?
Geofram (130 D(B))

Because true Christians would listen to their Pope before their government!

BULLSHIT
The Prussian (0 DX)
26 Jun 11 UTC
Geofram, most the christians are house churches. And yes true Catholics at least would listen to pope when it comes to appointing bishops and such. Nationalism has already destroyed american christianity. i wouldnt want China nationalizing christianity either. And more christians would change things by doing things like refusing to participate in the millitary (which christians in america need to start doing, christians in roman times refused)
