Quick Question
Can a fleet in Greece support another fleet's hold on the north coast of Bulgaria even though the fleet in Greece is unable to move to the north coast of Bulgaria from Greece?

75 pt PPSC game: Rust Never Sleeps2
We tried this once, but England left the game in Spring 01. So now we are trying again. Five of the six who joined that game have signed up, so that leaves two open spots. Looking for someone who won't go CD. Password and game ID inside.

Possible Error (Bug Reporting??)
It is a gunboat game so I am not sure if I can even post this, but I believe that there has been a error in the way that my moves have been processed. IT has happened twice (if I understand the rules correctly)

We have paused but it says Next Phase: Now!
Was quite a shock when I looked at the game without having orders in so far and it says "Now" :-o

Retreats
If somebody has to enter retreat orders but doesn't do so (e.g because he misses his turn or is in CD), what happens to the unit? There are several adjacent empty territories that the unit could theoretically retreat to. Thanks!

Someone deciding they don't want to continue
So, I am in a few games right now. It seems like in most of the games I am in, someone has stopped entering moves. In one game, someone just announced they were not going to enter anymore moves, because they suspected someone of meta-gaming. They said they had no proof at all, the game was just making them "uncomfortable". It happened after the game started turning against them.

Missing Unit
gameID=12861
Last turn I (at least I thought I did) put in build orders for fleet in Brest and army in Paris. I should have 6 units now but I only have five, the Paris army never arrived. The orders archive only has the order to build a fleet in Brest listed. Now, this is my first game, so I'm in no way ruling out that I made a mistake but I didn't think the finalize option appeared unless there were valid orders entered?
Maybe they're just having a glass of wine first...?

Quadruple Russian Build
Has anyone ever gotten one in Autumn 1901? It'd be awesome to see I'd think, but of course would come down to a tremendous amount of luck...

rratcliff managed it once I think in what was the fastest solo ever in diplomacy. I'll find a link for you.
Draugnar (0 DX)

That would be nigh on impossible. You'd have to tkae Swe and Nwy both unsupported (well unsupported by you) and get Rum and Bul or push your way into another nation's home SC behind their back. I've done the triple german a couple of times, but a quadruple Russian?

That last turn should have been impossible, what were those players thinking. Must have been some very smooth talking!! Congrats!
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 09 UTC
Something's fishy about that game... Every player in it has a total of 2 games to their name EXCEPT rratcliff. For all of the survivors, it is the only game they have survived. And this would have been so easy to stop, even with the brilliant 4 SC '01 grab. '02 was either more brilliant or where the fishiness really begins. After an '01 hit on Turkey like that, even the newest of noobs should have been able to see what was happening. And '03 is the nail in the "smells like tuna" coffin. Did anyone ever check out this game? I mean a 700 point WTA pot with 6 noobs?
StevenC. (1047 D(B))
31 Aug 09 UTC
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. His moves were so easy to stop it was almost as if the other players didn't know at all how to play the game. My first game of Diplomacy was at least 50 times better than what those noobs put out.
spyman (424 D(G))
31 Aug 09 UTC
I think you're right. It is pretty fishy. Was it some kind of experiment perhaps? Trying to workout test the quickest possible victory? (I am being charitable here)
Centurian (3257 D)
31 Aug 09 UTC
Are you guys kidding? That game had six players that were all created at the same time, and they all played just two games, that one, and another one won by rratcliff as well. This is ridiculous. No way that is a real game.
spyman (424 D(G))
31 Aug 09 UTC
The other players have close to sequential ID numbers too. That's usually a dead give-away.
djbent (2572 D(S))

haha seriously. obviously mult-accounting.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
31 Aug 09 UTC
I *think* it was a live game with rratcliff being the only experienced player, which goes some way towards explaining how they could be so bad
StevenC. (1047 D(B))
31 Aug 09 UTC
Ah, that's a shame. He's of honest diplomat ranking. How does a veteran player get tempted to multi-account?
spyman (424 D(G))
31 Aug 09 UTC

Bonotow (782 D)

Two games with the same seven player and the same one winning so easyly? 100 D WTA? All other players having only played those two games? And look at their profiles: no single message posted! Even if it was a live game, how could it work without talking?
Xapi (194 D)
31 Aug 09 UTC
I had doubts, but the 0 game messages is really hard evidence.
Draugnar (0 DX)

He;s a cheat. Now we know he has inflated his points by 1200 total. Is a mod going to do anything about this? Or just take his "word" that it was a live game both times against the same 6 noobs.
redcrane (1045 D)

It could be a bunch of friends that he coerced, or maybe asked, to join.

And owned them twice.
I've never seen 03... I was fairly proud of an 07 win...
StevenC. (1047 D(B))
31 Aug 09 UTC
Umm, the last time he's visited the site was in June according to his profile but the game finished this Sunday? How is that possible?
djbent (2572 D(S))
31 Aug 09 UTC
@stevenC - not this sunday, it finished on a sunday. it says the day of the week, not the date, on finished games.
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 09 UTC
Ghostie... Is this a practical joke you are playing on us using rratcliff's account?
Draugnar (0 DX)
31 Aug 09 UTC
The real kicker is that, if he did cheat, he could have used those points to get into games he wouldn't otherwise have made it into and made even more points with them.
StevenC. (1047 D(B))
31 Aug 09 UTC
Yeah but there are old finished games that show the precise date they ended(i.e., Sept. 29, 2008)
Xapi (194 D)

And he would have gotten away, if it weren't for those meddling kids.

(And they're little dog too)
The General (554 D)
31 Aug 09 UTC
It seems it was obviously about points. You can see in the fist game he was content just taking the win, but he realized he could get more points if he destroyed everyone first and then had his partner go CD at the end leaving him with an apparent 11900 D (That's what the game says although I don't think he got that much).

Milking every last point...
Just a quick query. If you draw a game, the pot is split between the survivors. No problems there. But what if the pot does not divide evenly between the number of survivors? Does it round up, round down, or round to the nearest whole number? Thanks.

Why are new 6-player games cancelled?
We are a group of 6 who know each other in real life and have started a private game here. We expected the system to set Italy to CD like it was being done in phpdiplomacy. Now the game has been cancelled.
