It would list a few things in addition to what you've mentioned:

Threads in which I've recently participated.
Time left in each active game.
Whether or not I've entered moves (show me a pending NMR).
Other players currently online in the games that I'm playing.

By time left in each active game I mean time left in each phase, including "phase ends by [time] [am/pm] [timezone]" caption.

Also, I had no idea Dune was a featured game. That's dope!

Also, if each game could show a current map, even in a mini-size, that would be really great.

The home page would be your profile page. you would go to your profile and it would list all of your games, new messages, new forum posts, etc. It would be like your own little mini-command center

I think the hall of fame is a waste of space. It's not something I care about, nor does it change often enough to make it interesting.

Who I have messages from in each game - that's nice to see.

Also, it would be nice to have player blacklists--in other words, a method of totally avoiding another player on the site.

Said shitlist could be updated anytime, and would be listed on said homepage.

I'm hoping the next version's occupation bar will help a bit here, it's not a thumbnail but it helps divide up the game panel and gives a rough idea of the map:

There is a lot of crossover between the two pages, but a profile is a summary of the account and the home page should be a summary of what's going on with the account right now

If anyone is up for getting their nerd on and sketching how they'd do it that'd be the most helpful, extra points for max functionality and making best use of space and not looking really empty for new accounts. It'd help get 0.9 out sooner :-o

I'd like to see a NMR rating for each player on their profile page. This could give valuable infomation when decideing to join games.

thanks a lot for the great time and effort you have put into this... it is getting better and better...

one other suggestion - a very clear and large link titled "How to Play" which would then itself go to a page with links to the tons and tons of websites out there devoted to helping improve people's play... a lot of new players could really use reading a few articles too...

maybe even put up a few key 'intro to dip' articles up to a vote and hightlight the best or most popular ones so that it becomes somewhat of a 'heavily suggested reading' before new players start to play.

just a thought.

The one thing set of numbers I really wish I had easy access to is the number of units each player has. So when build phase comes along, I don't have to count their units in order to compare it to their supply centers number to know who many builds/disbands each player is having to do. Not sure if that is home page type material, more like game page, but maybe both if available.

Kestas, I think you should add a small $ icon with the total amount donated. This will remind and encourage people to donate (I am guilty). And maybe a donation ranking to go in their profile too. Something simple even as if>0, "Contributor"

one other thing... in the move history page... it would be GREAT if you could indicate which moves succeeded, failed, cut, or were void. this is something that will greatly help.

Most of these suggestions aren't really related to the home page, but seem to be sort of pet ideas that have been closeted for a while. =P

My main suggestion on the dev forum would be a very short listing of all your games in order of time left in phase (taking into account whether an order is required). Just the name of the game and the hours left, in ascending order so the most urgent is at the top.

seems like some info is repeated from the bottom on the right hand side. do we want that?

i don't really understand what the "featured games" is all about. seems just like more unnecessary clutter to me.

And I second a a ghost rating system in addition with the site rank.

Could there be a place for "following" games?

This would be games that you want to keep tabs on, even if you're not playing on them. This could get a (minor) space in the homepage.

Also, I agree with someone who said that the HoF is really unnecesary.
