Drama Queen Rating
I request the dev's to program this rating in each profile. I'd rather not play with people who have a high drama queen rating. I dont' care how it's implemented.

I must say that I find the powers of Europe to be sophisticated and truly remarkable countries with grand histories and are most definitely proud nations.

And that now being said and out of the way.....

AMERICA! WOOO! ;)

Happy 4th, everyone!

Europe sucks, man. Beneath the veneer of politeness and "culture" is extremism and latent racism. I'd much rather be a black man in America than a Muslim in Europe.

@Hamilton: Are you not seeing the irony in generalizing all Europeans as racists?

"Europe sucks, man. Beneath the veneer of politeness and "culture" is extremism and latent racism. I'd much rather be a black man in America than a Muslim in Europe."

Have you spent much time in Europe, from which to base that assertion?
Hamilton (137 D)
05 Jul 09 UTC
oh, of course not all Europeans are racists, but my friends and I went on a football stadium tour of Europe and nowhere else did I feel more uncomfortable than French, Spanish, and Italian football matches in my life. If you took latin in HS, its pretty easy to figure what the jeers being launched at yourself and the black players on the field are. Spain's basketball team feels comfortable pulling their eyes to "look Chinese". Of course not all Europeans are racist, the time I spent in Budapest was wonderful, partially because myself and my other non-white friends were treated as a kind of royalty, but I much prefer the US. Like I said, I'd rather be a black man in the US than a muslim in Europe. Could you imagine France electing an Algerian? or Germany electing a Turk?
Captain Dave (113 D)
05 Jul 09 UTC
Germany electing a Turk as Bundeskanzler(in) would be rare only because the Turks are still a rather small minority, and they also tend to be of a lower socio-economic class than those who would normally take up politics (Obama is NOT working class, for example).

The Spanish are well known to be racist, especially (according to my friend who is half-Spanish) in the areas surrounding Madrid. As a fan of football, and being English, I abhor the fact that Aragones was fined a pitiful amount for his racist remarks a few years ago, and that Spaniards continually make monkey chants at our black players. Although I believe the last friendly we played was in somewhere like Seville, where the scale of the problems was minimal (if memory serves me correctly anyway).

I think I'll echo Glorious' thoughts: God save the Queen!

And football crowds are a good way to judge a continent of people?
gjdip (1065 D)
05 Jul 09 UTC
I feel that a bunch of football hooligans do not represent the majority of Europeans. People of the same race get stabbed and beaten for supporting the "wrong" team. It has nothing to do with ethnicity. There are places in Europe where muslims are treated better than blacks are in some places in America. When I lived in Texas somebody had painted on his rear window: "Prevent crime - Abort black babies." Not exactly the type of people you'd want to hang around much, is it?

But apart from that; Happy Birthday!

For those of you who say that America is the best place to live in the world, how many countries have you sampled? Because America seems pretty miserable to me unless you are rich.

There's no place I'd rather live than glorious Great Britain!
EdiBirsan (1469 D(B))

I have lived in Belgium, and the UK, and traveled the world over as one of my goals is to go to every country before I die... I am about half way there, but the Europeans keep making new countries in the last two decades which is quite annoying at times. I must say that I have found that America is the best place to live for me. Southern England has a lot going for it when you have little kids, but over all America still remains as number one for me.
But as in all such issues, personal tastes are greatly affected by points of origin and familiarity, Traveling, even extensively and a few years stay here and there, may not be the best way to judge these things...if judgement is what is needed.

I'm very happy to be a US citizen, and quite proud of my country. I had an excellent fourth of july yesterday and I hope those of you who celebrated did too!
Hamilton (137 D)

Britain was honestly the nicest place in Europe I've been to, both myself and my fiancee(who is a violin teacher and goes to Europe every summer with the youth orchestra she mentors...for free). As for a Turk being elected in Germany, they number about 9%, not very far from the 13% of Americans who are black. As for Obama, he got food stamps as a child. While he later became a lawyer, he did not start out independently wealthy.
Hereward77 (930 D)
05 Jul 09 UTC
Obama is just as white as he is black (as far as I understand it he's half and half? Correct me if I'm wrong). I agree football crowds are hardly a good way to judge a continent of people.

How about the fact that Europe's minority communities live in ghettoized suburbs designed to keep them out of public sight?

FDR, Reagan, and Rushmore.....?
Another 4th of July gone, and before the feeling of patriotism gives way to cynicism about my government TODAY (Palin resigning, and she wanted to be VP... sad) a question about the titans of YESTERDAY I've wondered for a bit-

Would you consider adding to Rushmore Reagan, FDR, both, neither, maybe a "new" Rushmore somewhere else.......?
