to start the discussion- here is my submission for consideration:

Saturday at 10am EST (3pm GMT).
25pt WTA w/ 1 hr deadlines.

everyone will try to finalize before - and one person will be 'time-keeper' who will announce the 15 min finalization deadline in the 'global chat' window.

any player would commit to playing for 4 hours on Saturday - after which if the game is to continue, all players would either draw or pause until 10am on Sun.

this is a starting proposal - so if you have ideas for improving on it, please do share... and lets see who will confirm their participation. we should be able to do this with a whole week to go.

I don't usually don't have time for a full game on a typical Saturday/Sunday, but you can't put me down for a possible backup. I believe Babak is on GMT-5, and a real time game would be much easier if everyone were close to that.

I would also suggest communication through something like AIM, which avoids having to constantly reload.

I have time on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon - mornings busy...

what time? and are you both EST?

I won't play these anymore - I've tried three and they all ended in draws because one person left in the middle of it every time forcing us to wait the full hour for each phase until that player went cd. As you can imagine, when you set aside three or four hours an extra two or three hours kind of screws up your timeframe.

Good luck to you though - hopefully you won't run into those problems.

The best thing to do is to set up a 24 hour game with honour rules to finalise, which is necessary anyway, and then finish it off normally if somebody has to leave, or finish off the next weekend etc.

I can't play during the day on a sat or sun though - for me it has to be a spur of the moment thing.

24 hour phases with honour rules to finalize sounds good... that way we can pause without the unpausing going to be awkward.

I've always wanted to try a fast game, but I have no idea if there are other plans on saturday. Wife is in 9th month of pregnancy with our 3rd child, too, so that always can interrupt. I'd also need reminders (email or something). So put me up as a 'maybe' or 7th player...
