If I am moving from Warsaw to Moscow, being supported by Ukraine, and there are two other armies who are moving into Moscow from St. Petersburg and Sevastopol, what happens?(The two armies in St. P and Sevastopol are NOT supporting each other, just moving into Moscow)

Man attacked by Panda
Every year it seems there are numerous stories about people in zoos climbing over fences and moats to get at the animals and than attacked by the animal. In parks people try to feed or pet wild animals with the same results. Than there are cases of domesticated animals being teased till the animal finds a way to get at the person. These events are in the news, signs are posted etc. What the hell are these people thinking! To many Disney Movies? What?

Removing /commands from chat
I think that any line sent in the global chat that starts with a "/" should not be shown in the text. Obviously it will be parsed as a command, and if it is a valid command then the text is not needed as a Gamemaster message is sent instead. As it is, the system gets rather messy as you get lots of lines just saying /pause followed by the system response.

EOG statement - "UN variant"
EOG statement for the “UN variant” game (http://phpdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=5933). The game is based on the idea that treaties can be published in global tab, and in that case they are “enforceable” by the UN (i.e.: if they are broken the guilty player will be sanctioned).

Would anyone be interested in a Public Press only game? Similar to a Gunboat, there is no private communication permitted. However, you can write to the Global window as needed.

I think this would be even more interesting if everyone attempted to keep 'in character' in their messages, but I'm hardly going to insist on such a thing ;)

I've made it - Public Press 29Oct08. Password is 'Press', just so people have to read the post to get in

so if you see some press that is not in your interests, you could fill up the global box with gibberish (or semi-gibberish) so it get's missed by the intended recipient.

Why don't we have press in this thread?
Braveheart (2408 D(S))

Hah - genius idea.... now that would be a different variant. You'd effectively be playing the game in full view of the entire community.
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)

Yes. The big plus point is that then we don't have everyone posting at double pace to hide that incriminating comment.

Italy and Austria are agreed on this.

What has been stated in the past (trimming irrelevant admin type stuff out):

The Islamic Nation of Turkey calls upon the Great Nation of Russia to declare at this time as to whether she is will agree to a mutual agreement to keep free of fleets or naval forces from the waters of the Black Sea, in order to maintain regional stability.

01:34 AM His Royal Majesty, the King of England, sends greetings to the continentals and expresses his desire to holiday in Belgium.

01:49 AM Czar Samo of Russia agrees to the request made by the great nation of Turkey to keep the Black Sea free of fleets and naval forces at this time. The Czar also requests Turkish consideration for closer relations and cooperation in the future.

01:54 AM The Czar of Russia sends warm regards to England. A case of our finest vodka and caviar are being shipped as we speak, as an expression of our friendship and good will.

02:14 AM The Sultan extends his hand in friendship to The Czar for his commitment of Black Sea demilitarization, at this time. We Ottomans have a saying that "good fences make for good neighbors", so in that spirit, the Turkish people look forward to close Russian relations.

02:17 AM Agreed! That is good news! We pray that our two civilizations, Turkey and Russia, may grow and prosper together.

02:39 AM (Austria) Bugger that.
02:44 AM Can I alert my friends that a Juggernaut has just been agreed. I request assistance against this from my good friends Germany, Italy and England, and hope that France will see the necessity of removing the threat for his safety also, and so will refrain from any attacks on those nations.

Thank you.

02:59 AM The Czar sends kind thoughts to Austria. Friendship and cooperation between nations need not feel threatening towards you. Emotionalism leads to unnecessary misunderstandings.

03:07 AM (Austria) Then again there is only one way a Russo/Turkish alliance can cease to be a juggernaut, and that is if Austria joins the alliance to form a triple. That's what my sitter did in the first game of this kind and it was a mistake for Austria.

Diplomacy is not a game of kind thoughts, but one of harsh realities, and the reality of what has been agreed is that it is a juggernaut. I implore Germany to launch an immediate attack on Russia, with English assistance, and for Italy to start a Lepanto at once in order to halt this menace.

Turkey:
As far as Austria's accusations, other than a Black Sea agreement, no juggernaut has been made here. That agreement is well stated "for the time". A black sea agreement...or an English Channel agreement...or a Piedmont agreement does not suggest anything more than a border security. If Austria does succeed in forming a nation alliance against us for a simple border agreement, I would call on the nations of France and England to assist us in this unjust aggression.

If Austria will admit that a border agreement has been reached here rather than open aggression across the board, I too would extend a hand in friendship.

Friends, friends! These threats and counterthreats get us nowhere. Surely we should all pray for a peaceful coexistence!

While the Pope understands why our Austrian neighbors may have reason for concern when it comes to alliances on their border, he feels that threatening invasion is premature at this time. Accordingly, while the Italian fleet shall move to retake our historic ownership of the territory of Naples, our armies shall move defensively in this, the year of our Lord 1901.

What shall happen in the future, of course, depends upon the actions of the other nations. The Pope hopes for peace - but is prepared to defend our nation in the face of any unjust assaults.

That is going to be the goal. The game just kicked off, so there isn't a lot in there yet, but what you see is what we got.

Gonna definitely be an interesting game - I want to see how people justify the first stabs ;)

Is it not absurd that Turkey and Russia and Italy could think that peace between every nation is possible? Is it not absurd that Turkey and Russia can believe that on the one hand they will not attack each other, but on the other Austria and Germany and Italy and England can think that they will not attack them? Is it not absurd that Turkey claims peace with Austria and Russia, so presumably will only attack Italy? Is it not absurd? Is it not ridiculous?

Russia said that “We pray that our two civilizations, Turkey and Russia, may grow and prosper together.”Where can they grow together but in the Balkans and in Austria. I do not think that there has been any misunderstanding here, no, there has been an understanding, an understanding of a coded alliance agreement to a Juggernaut. The growth of Russia and Turkey together necessitates the demolition of everyone to their West, everyone and anyone. We are obliged, all of us, to stop this from happening.

That is why I implore one of Russia or Turkey to take the Black sea from the other (although I ask that they do not announce it until it has been done, to ensure that the move succeeds), and win the respect and friendship of everyone in Europe for stopping the menace before it begins, or if this does not happen, for everyone else in Europe to stop the Juggernaut as soon as is possible.

Austria, my friend! The Pontiff is sadly aware that conflict is the curse of mankind, and while he prays that all will look into their hearts and strive to erase the sin of anger and the coveting of thy neighbor's territory, he is also aware that his prayers will not likely be answered.

However, as he is not moving aggressively this year, he feels this will allow you to deploy your own forces as you see fit, to ensure your own security. While he understands that there is a history of conflict between our nations, he offers his solemn vow not to set foot in any Austrian lands during this year
TheGhostmaker (1545 D)
30 Oct 08 UTC
Can the Pontiff make the vow I have, that everyone should: That he will not allow a Juggernaut to make any ground whatsoever.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
30 Oct 08 UTC
The Pontiff would consider any alliance that would have *no choice* but to eventually threaten the citizens he is sworn to protect to be an affront to the stability of the world and international relations.

While he is, of course, not in a position to dictate how nations interact with each other, he would be... disinclined to be supportive of any nation - or combination of nations - who would threaten the free flow of goods through the Mediterranean by the construction of an excessively large naval presence.
stratagos (3269 D(S))
30 Oct 08 UTC
The Pontiff is willing to station peacekeepers in Greece if this will offer his neighbors a greater sense of security

Dear World, The Chancellor of Deutchland is unconcerned with the sad little Eastern countries and their sad little wars. However, I would like to invite both Austria and Russia into a mutually benefitial NAP.

As for the West, Germany recognises the British monarchy's need to holiday somewhere other than their dreary old island. May i recommend you convoy there from your english channel over there? You can holiday all over France as well, that would be fantaisch!

France, if you log on... I just started a rumour that England is attacking you. I would defend myself if I were you.
TrueHeart (162 D)
30 Oct 08 UTC
This is a really great idea. Maybe someone else should start one of these games.

Edi, I vote for you, then I can join and learn from a master :)
stratagos (3269 D(S))
30 Oct 08 UTC
The Pontiff would gently like to point out to the Chancellor that referring to someone as a 'sad little country' is unlikely to generate a great deal of support for a NAP.

He would also like to point out to his French counterparts that he is willing to have a DMZ in Peidmont while you deal with other concerns

GFTD - Where the games to be WTA or PPSC?
Not that it makes a real difference, as the pot is 5 and the idea is to have the scores calculated by the llama, anyhow. Yet... there was an indication to follow or was it free for us to choose? (I ask since my 2 games are one WTA and one PPSC...)
