I find that on this topic both sides just put their fingers in their ears and scream at each other. There are good arguments on both sides.

I'm saying that a "life" is defined by 4 factors:
capacity for
- growth
- reproduction
- functional activity
- continual change preceding death

a fetus meets all of these qualifications.

i do not believe we should define a life by how convenient it is. Medical technology is what changes viability, which is already a subjective term, which can apply to the capacity of the child's heart to undergo surgery, the development of the main organs, all of which don't have the same developmental rates.

Calling me an "ignorant man" is offensive being that we are dealing with a human life and we have collectively established a system dedicated to the principal that the basic right to ones own life and liberty is to be protected and this issue was never intended to be an expressly Constitutional exception.

I'm not sure I want to live in a nation where we subject people to criminal penalties because they do not want to give birth, or where the government has that level of control over the bodies of its citizens.

I agree that abortion is unethical but I don't think it's the government's job to police that.
