What I'd like to know is why people are complaining about black storm troopers and light saber exhaust vents when they could be complaining about this fucking thing:

Why does anyone think that all Storm Troopers aren't black -- this is the first one in my memory who's face I've seen.

I'm far less concerned about the pigment of his flesh than I am of the fact that he looks like a scared, whiny pussy -- when Storm Troopers are...

Oh, that's right -- Storm Troopers are CLONES of Boba-Fett....i.e. they are all kind of Hispanic Looking dudes...and they are trained from their hatching to NOT be scared little pussies.

Not all Stormtroopers are Clone Troopers.

"Storm Troopers are CLONES of Boba-Fett" Actually, the Clone Army from the prequels were clones of Boba Fett. And, dear God, those were the prequels. The Stormtroopers were actually recruited by the Empire. All of the commanding officers, whose faces were actually shown in several shots, were white.

The Clone troopers are cloned from Jango Fett; whom Boba Fett was also cloned from, so um ... I guess he's genetically identical to Jango Fett, so it probably doesn't matter that he was cloned from one and not the others...?

Jeez genetics is hard :-S

Oh, ha, I got tripped up from krellin's not paying attention enough to the franchise. I should have known that. He was engineered to be the perfect clone because Jango wanted a son.

The original stormtroopers were obviously clones of Jango Fett, left over from the Clone Wars, but as the clones began to die off(due to the aging and fast growing methods of the Kaminoans) new people were recruited into the Stormtrooper legions from the regular human population. Therefore they could have come from any ethnicity.

Yeah, though storm troopers aren't necessarily clone troopers, This gonna be set like 50-60 years after the clone wars? Darth Vader is a holo-force grandaddy by this time. So why not a change in recruitment policy?

Boba Fett was a specialized clone that was part of Jangos pay for providing his DNA and training the clones. Boba doesn't have the regular clones short life spans and Jango raised him as a son.

You want to know why he was scared? He finally realized... Those WERE the droids he was looking for.

Personally I am digging the Scots Claymore lightsaber. Gonna take a big thumpin' sith lad to pull that one off.

I recommend people look into the Expanded Universe Star Wars novels if you are interested in learning more about the story as a whole rather than just the main characters stories, although they are usually major players in the books as well. Disney just killed the EU by saying that all new Star Wars books that will be coming out will be part of the new canon, so the EU books are done now. Bye bye Mara Jade, Jacen, Jaina, Anakin, Corran Horn, Kyp Durron...the list of the dead is long...

Personally, I hated the Yuuzhan Vong war anyway.

And he's obviously scared to show that the empire is on the run at the beginning of this next trilogy. He's no pansy. he an allegory.

I loved the Vong! It was sad about Chewie, but the New Jedi Order series was great as a whole.

Expanded Universe isn't canon, so these movies don't necessarily have to build or relate to those

I was far more disappointed by the use of starfighters for atmospheric maneuvers. There's are reasons you don't have many dogfights in atmospheres with fighters like that. They simply aren't designed for that sort of thing. I was also a little disappointed by the use of the old Rebellion symbol rather than the updated and more detailed one which the EU used for the New Republic, or even the GA symbol. I understand they aren't using the same canon, but they are having time pass at least.

The trooper did seem rather pathetic in the clip we had, but I think we need more of the context to really judge his behavior. Still, they'll need to really excuse a trooper (assuming he's not some crummy rebel spy) snapping like that. Also, only the earliest troopers were clones; once the empire took over they opened recruitment. Carida (sp) is a whole planet devoted to training regular imperial citizens for the stormtrooper corps. (Pretty sure Jango Fett was supposed to be New Zealander, not Hispanic too)

The Sith guy's saber is a bit silly if you ask me, but it won't be a deal-breaker or anything. I can't imagine it being a good thing for toy marketing though. More extendable parts on toy sabers? I don't think so. Seriously hurts their merchandising if that's really what they want to go with. Of course, other elements of the EU have weapons like a light-whip, so who knows what they'll incorporate tech-wise.

All in all, as a teaser, I'm unimpressed, but I want to at least see a theatrical trailer before I make any serious judgments.

I'm not saying they have to, just that the EU had alot of value in it that they could have at least used. Luke's wife, if he has one in this new trilogy, will not be Mara Jade and she was one of my favorite characters. Still, the new canon has sealed the death of the EU.

I had the original three Star Wars Comic books that were released with the first movie. I wonder what those things would be worth today?

Corran's been a personal favorite of mine since the X-wing novels, and that was but one of the reasons I was mad at the decision to make them all "Legends" of the Star Wars universe. But hey, now this means that Mara Jade, if she exists, wasn't killed off for some poorly justified reason. I mean seriously, the whole Jacen character arc there had some major flaws.

I never really liked Kyp much. He got off way too easily for the whole blowing up stars thing. Force Spirit or not, some of the moral theology of Star Wars never sat comfortably with me.

It did have some flaws, but Jacen was the character I most imagined going Sith ever since New Jedi Order. I also love Corran, hes by far my favorite character in the whole universe.

In all seriousness how could they not do away with the EU. It was hard enough making the prequel fit into the existing trilogy. Are they really going to be able to be faithful to all of those books and comics, etc.
