Thanks, for the new thread PE. Now as the new GM, I want to make this game as enjoyable for all parties as possible. While I have already decided upon a theme (I prefer it be a surprise for the majority of you, but if you really want to know, PM me), other things (roles, number of players, ect..) are open to debate. If you have a topic to discuss feel free to suggest it here, though as GM, I have final say.

One of the biggest topics to discuss is the SK. While personally I lime the idea of a third party, some people (most notably but not solely PE) have suggested removing it as they see mafia as a team game and the SK has a much small win percentage than any other group in mafia. As such I will suggest a vote, type ##VoteSK to keep the SK and ##VoteNoSK to remove it. It is also recommended you state your reasoning and if you don't care, please abstain from voting.

I like the role. Mafia vs. town is good, but I like a bit more uncertainty in the game, and a bit more paranoia. The SK is also a good equalizer in case things get too one sided too quick (although I would favor banning open reveals like PE in last game).

Banning open reveals is definitely not an acceptable solution to the problem imo. Certain roles, like the cop, absolutely depend on being able to reveal, and even roles that "shouldn't" reveal, like the doctor, can benefit from it in certain circumstances (see Maniac last game confirming himself town and avoiding an ML). Sure, in most cases an sk openly revealing and swearing to help one side over the other is a suboptimal strategy, but unless it can be proven without a doubt that it is *always* suboptimal, you can't ban it, because banning it when it *is* optimal inhibits the ability of the sk to follow the "play to win" rule.

Don't worry, as long as it gets you closer to your win condition, a reveal will not be banned.

I meant only banning SK open reveal, not all open reveals. Thought that was clear to me.

I figured that was what you meant, but an SK can't win if he is dead and PE at least gave him more life. So he did advance towards his win condition, if in a way that usually would not have worked.

I talked about the other town roles to construct a parallel analogy, particularly the doctor. Superficially the doctor isn't helping his team win by outing early and getting killed, but if he saves himself from being lynched then he's helped his team compared to the alternative. By outing as the sk and helping the town, I put off my own lynch for 2 days and came one ML away from taking control of the game.

For a Diplomacy analogy, this seems to me like banning people from making "Janissary" agreements (where a lesser power being beaten up by a presumptive victor agrees to help the victor win to save himself from sure destruction). I don't see the logic. Most of the time such agreements are just ways to buy time until the lesser power can strike again later, when he has a greater chance of victory or can even take the advantage altogether and become a major power on the board again. Same principle was at play with my sk move, it just didn't work because the town is full of Diplo players smart enough not to move their armies away from their presumptive "ally." ;)

We can't have it and ban revealing, because that disadvantages the SK, but we also can't have him and allow revealing, because that disadvantages the Mafia.

##VOTE NoSK - I like the game in its most basic essential form. The more third party and power roles we have, the more complex and unmafia it becomes. That being said, there are some power roles that make the game more fun, like the cop and doctor. I would be fine with trying out some new roles as well.
