World Map Question.
If you have Saudi Arabia occupied, it has 2 coasts. (North and South Coast.) Does that mean you can have 2 armies on Saudi Arabia at once?

NOTE: The rules for this game are almost exactly the same as for the last one, but with changes to the TIE-RESOLUTION METHOD and the additions of the MOLE and QUESTION ASKER roles. If you read the rules in the last thread, you can just skip to these sections in this one, as the rest is the same. If you did not, it is strongly advised you read the whole of the below post.

My wife is going to be out of town with the kids. I will be home in 3 and a half hours. I have not played a live game on this site, so I thought I'd check to see interest.

Memorial Day
Only patriots need post.

Lance Corporal Robert Bolin - U.S Marine Corps - 1984-1988. I am thankful for all those sailors, soldiers, airmen, and Marines who went before, allowing me to have a life of moderate luxury in a nation where anyone who applies himself can climb the ranks.

hmm, maybe because our "defenders" haven't defended since 1944? If you think I'm insulting our soldiers you are missing the point entirely, but if you think I have some obligation to show gratitude for the cause they fight for, you can get bent.
Octavious (2802 D)

Since '44? I for one am appreciative of the American contribution to NATO that has served to ensure the freedom of the Western world for many decades. Even if you disagree with the recent wars chosen by elected civilian officials, the bravery and dedication shown by the average American servicemen is worthy of a great deal of respect and admiration.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

It's so true, octavious! I mean, as long as we stay on the offensive we don't really have to worry at all about defending, amirite?

Now, we can deconvolve that bullshit entirely from cases of individual bravery shown by individual troops - that being said, why should I blow every soldier who passes by because he shows "bravery" and "dedication" to a cause that I despise? Look yourself in the mirror and say out loud that our soldiers are, in practice, first and foremost here to protect us from foreign invaders. Tell me if the words don't ring hollow for you.

Memorial day is about remembering the fallen. You dishonor my grand fathers and the rest of those who died in WWI and WWII as well as those living who served in WWII with your shit attitude. I think I shall mute you for the rest of the month for being a fucking ungrateful asshole who has those who died to thank for having the freedom to be an asshole. Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany would have left you no such freedom, you little shit.
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 May 14 UTC
And more to the point, it's memorial day, not armed forces day. This is about remembering the dead, but I guess you don't get that.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
26 May 14 UTC
(+4)
Yeah, memorials are real important for soldiers in an empire. Gotta buy into all of that crap, otherwise how could a soldier live with himself? Real important for the common people too, otherwise they have to admit they're letting the rich send their babies off to die for money and power.

Don't forget to wear your little pin today, Draug.
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 May 14 UTC
One more point, while Veterans day and Armed forces day is about living veterans and active duty soldiers, not everything the US armed forces does I war related. I, personally, was involved in a number of humanitarian relief efforts. So you offend me and make me want to rip off your fucking head and shit down your throat.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

Soo, because you merely disagree with me you want to project power and violence on me to punish me even though I'm not threatening you in any way?

You must have learned that in the marines.

Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany had no interest (or capability) in taking Americans' freedoms away, Draug. The last time American soldiers died fighting for the freedom of American citizens against a foreign invader, it was 1815 and Andrew Jackson's backwoods militiamen were slaughtering redcoats outside of New Orleans.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))
26 May 14 UTC
Haha tolstoy I was tempted to go there too, but I though It was an unnecessary argument to make, and would just confound the real issue.

Tolstoy - Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Had Imperialist Japan and Nazi Germany won and secured their respective domains, they would then have turned their site to the Americas.
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 May 14 UTC
I said they fought so he could have that attitude. But the first amendment doesn't rule my right to have am opinion that he is am ungrateful shit deserving of complete derision. The constitution says what the government and, in some case businesses, can do. It says nothing about curbing personal opinions. That would be found in the former Soviet Union's documents.

Tolstoy (1962 D)

If absolute power corrupts absolutely, what does that mean for the world's only remaining superpower? Has it never crossed your mind that you served a corrupt regime that was after something other than securing your freedom?

As for the idea that the Axis powers would've invaded America someday, the idea makes for interesting alternative history, but doesn't have a lot of legs. There are two great big oceans on either side that would have to be crossed, and unlike the approach to Japan, there aren't a lot of islands to hop and establish forward bases on to support your advance. Any attempt to invade the continental United States (or South America, for that matter) would've been as impossible in the late '40s as it is today.
Yellowjacket (835 D(B))

Now really I don't think that's fair. Hell, if they listened to me we could honor all those dead soldiers best by making sure the ones we have right now don't continue to die in needless wars. That sounds like the best way to me.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Try going north across Greenland and Iceland. Conquering GB would have left Canada ripe for the picking while Japan conducted and Island campaign.

As far as superpowers, don't tell the UK they aren't one.
Draugnar (0 DX)
26 May 14 UTC
And when I served, the Soviet Union was still very much a super power. So I didn't serve the "only remaining super power".

Muting YJ and the thread now. Done with this bullshit. If I could mute a mod, I would mute that fuck Eden too. Have to talk to Kestas about that feature.
Tolstoy (1962 D)

"Try going north across Greenland and Iceland."

That's two hops over stormy north Atlantic waters beyond the range of air support from the previous hop in waters filled with enemy submarines (and this is assuming that the USN has been either destroyed or significantly outproduced, giving Germany a clear naval superiority - a rather unlikely situation). Even if you're able to conquer Iceland and Greenland, the lack of developed port and airfield facilities (and the really terrible weather) produces insurmountable logistical problems.

And after Hawaii, there are no islands for the Japanese to take for 3,000 miles until they hit the west coast.

PPSC Points Distribution
With regards to this game: gameID=142343

The pot was 175 D. Germany won with 22 of 34 SCs, so by my calculations Germany should win ( 22 / 34 ) * 175 = 113 D, but Germany only won 105 D (which is 60%, exactly, of the pool). Similarly, Turkey finished with 9 of 34 SCs, so Turkey should win ( 9 / 34 ) * 175 = 46 D, but won 53 D. What gives?
