Compete Rank has a new explanation, by the way:

Yonni: I am giving two rankings that seems to be alternatives to each other. I wouldn't draw conclusions from comparing the two rankings like that.

The conclusions I would draw are based on the differences between now and a year ago:

Over the past year PLAYdiplomacy has widened its advantage over us. Our Alexa Traffic Rank has dropped considerably, while theirs has made important gains. And while our Compete Rank has only slightly dropped, theirs has surged

Conquest of Nations seems to have either utterly collapsed or grown much more popular over the past year, depending on which ranking you believe more.

vDiplomacy.com is either the third most popular Diplomacy site or is too puny to be mentioned, again depending on the ranking you use.

www.stabbeurfou.org has returned to obscurity.

BOUNCED has lost all popularity, it seems.

Droidippy owes its new existence to monopolizing Diplomacy on Android devices.

phpDiplomacy, worldLeaders the Game, goonDiplomacy, OliDip, dip.xbsd.kr have all moved or ceased to exist.

I know about phpDiplomacy. I joined when the site was still called that.

I've played (or tried) at C.O.N. I am NOT a fan. The interface is a joke, and one game (out of 3) that I started didn't show any units at the start of the game, then after a turn, let me place units although the number of units I was told I could place, and the number it actually LET me place were two different numbers.

Jynx: Ha ha. Maybe you should go back there and try to recruit players for wedDip?

@JECE, note that you can get to vdip with either .net or .com. Would those therefore have different numbers that need to be combined to get the true numbers for vdip?

I could probably beat everyone in playdiplomacy.com with no effort at all...

I played with Thumpington from that list and from my experience he is very good player, for others I heard off but never met them in game.

Seeing as visits to vdiplomacy.net are not counted at all, you may be right.

zultar: I posted the number of games played just to show that their top players seem to have far less experience than ours. Ideally, though, yes, I agree. Unfortunately, I don't think all the websites post all their statistics like that. Copying and pasting from Alexa is much faster in any case, ha ha.
