I have always known that I perceive letters and numbers to have colors, but only just recently have I discovered that this condition has a name - Synesthesia. I'm curious as to whether anyone else on webDip thinks the letter K looks green or the letter A looks red...
@kasimax Yes, words representing colors are colored with the color they represent. For instance, blue does look blue, but if I look closely, I can see that the b is brown, not blue. Same with red, etc. Rainbow looks green-then-red.
It is much easier to say what the words are than to say what color the words are. I have to go at a pace of about half of my usual reading-aloud speed.
Actually, mixing colour and music is a more accurate use of the word synesthesia than what PSMongoosw describes. Synesthesia means a mixture of senses (warm colours, coloured tones, coloured smells. It doesn't even neccesarily have to be in the context of a condition, you use synesthesia if you speak of warm colours in a book for example, even if it's just an expression), so letter-colour-synesthesia is one of many phenomena that isn't technically what the word means, since it only involves one sense. Ideasthesia would be a more accurate term.

One of my thought experiments somehow got me here, and now I'd like to know what's known and what's unknown about the combination. Although actual explanations are preferred, links work too I suppose.
