Gunboat to introduce new players to site
I introduced several friends to Webdiplomacy, through a full-press game. Several players (five!) indicated they want to play another gunboat game on the side to get the hang of the site. They're reasonably experienced, so we're looking for two reasonable other players to give some staunch opposition.
Who feels like a game?!

Thoughts of Americans about opinions of "foreigners"about Americans?
So, Americans, what do you think of our opinions of you? What do you think we think about you? I'm curious, because I hear rather often how we are all blaming America blablabla while I know no one who actually does that.

I am about to graduate...
Hello WebDip community.
I am about to graduate high school (2 weeks after tomorrow) and I was wondering if anybody here has any general tips or experiences they can share with me and/or anybody who is graduating. I believe many of you on this site have gone through college or high school already, and was just wondering if anybody could ease my nerves about my future.
I am going to be attending University of River Falls - Wisconsin in the USA; I plan on becoming a teacher.

Gay Magical Elves...
http://www.latimes.com/features/books/jacketcopy/la-et-jc-bret-easton-ellis-out-gay-elite-20130514,0,5341223.story

BRAVO to Bret Easton Ellis for saying all the truth a straight white man could never utter. Fuck gay political correctness. I tired of having to pay homage to every bung-plunger that feels the need to reveal his bedroom habits to me!

If some people weren't as close-minded as you are, the gay community wouldn't feel the obligation of telling out loud their bedroom habits. They do because still in the 21st century, there are people who can't conceive or accept reality as it is.

End of story.

slyster....caught you. Actually, I'm not closed minded at all. If you want to go dilly dallying around in a guys ass, be my guest - just don't tell me about it AND EXPECT ME TO THROW YOU A PARTY, like some idiot NBA player looking for kudos for being a butt-plugger.

MOST people would just assume keep their private lives PRIVATE,. And it USED to be the Liberals -- including the gays -- who said, "Stay OUT of our bedrooms...none of your business..."

...and now all they want to do it tell us about it.

WE DON'T CARE. You are not special because of who you sleep with, and we're tired of hearing about it. It doesn't make you noble, doesn't make you special, it sure as hell doesn't make you worthy of extra attention just because you (yawnnnn....) told us you are gay. It's OLD news. It's accepted...and nobody - INCLUDING other gays - wants to constantly hear about it.

If you, on the other hand, think you are going to beign the magical gay man that suddenly makes butt-plugging wide acceptable and practiced by all, you are delusional. The fact is, some people don't agree with it and never will...AND THEY HAVE A RIGHT TO BELIEVE THAT WAY.

The only intollerant people in the room these days are actually the gays and their supporters. For the most part, everyone else just wants you all to shut up about it and go about your lives privately like everyone else does.

Or do you *want* Druagnar to come on board every day and tell us of his sexual exploits?
slyster (3934 D)

I totally agree with the part where one shouldn't have to tell out loud who he is sleeping with. Where I made a point is that people still do because there are some unhappy people in the world that can't see reality as it is and that these people do this out loud *because* there are close-minded people that always fight against their right.

It works not only for gays rights, but for any minority that isn't heard the way they should be.

If you are that open minded, good for you, and the more open-minded and tespectful you'll be of yourself, the happier you'll be. But then I ask you: why did you feel the need like posting such an irrelevant article on a Webdip forum? Certainly not to disrespect people if you are open-minded. Then, why?
Jasbrum (100 D)

@ kreelin - protesting to much? Suits you sir, suits you :p
krellin (80 DX)
17 May 13 UTC
"but for any minority that isn't heard the way they should be."

SHOULD be? Why should any minority - any majority, for that matter - be heard? You act like there is some natural right to BE HEARD - there is not.

You have a right to believe what you believe, to say what you want, to act as you want (as long as it does not infringe on others...) - but the idea that you have a right TO BE HEARD is ludicruous.

Requiring that you are heard imposes on my right to not listen to you.

And that is exactly the problem with modern movements like gay rights, etc. The mainstream culture and media has taken up the *idiotic* notion that every time a fag farts that we all *must* be made aware of it. Not only made aware of it, but we *must* praise it!

No longer are individuals even given the right to disagree with gays any longer -- if you have a disagreement with a gay idea, you are villified. But if you want to disagree with a Christian, you not only have the right, you are encouraged! Despite the fact that the majority of people have some form of religious faith, etc.

That's my problem with it...that in the name of diversity and in the name of "tolerance"
the left, the gays, etc have become THE MOST INTOLERANT group in recent history.

People now lost their jobs for simply expressing a negative opinion about fags. THAT is wrong. THAT is why this idiocy of praising the butt pluggers every time they announce they want to plug another butt must end.

(And, for the record, if you find "butt plugger" offensive, it's simply a descriptive. You are more than welcome to call any hetero male a pussy-plugger, and he'll most likely gladly wear the label...)
Jasbrum (100 D)
17 May 13 UTC
I think females would find "pussy-plugger" equally offensive IMHO
krellin (80 DX)
17 May 13 UTC
Well, if they are lesbians they wouldn't. And we all know that all females are latent homosexuals. Or, if the gays had their way, would at least try it. None the less, NOBODY should be offended by ANY reference to sexual activties -- RIGHT? After all, the gays seem to feel this need to remind everyone about their sexual activities on a fairly regular basis and in the most public way possible...so if someone takes offense at my "pussy plugger" comment, too damned bad, is what I say...unless it is no longer publicly acceptable to be a heterosexual and talk about it in open.

Krellin is right. We should go back to the good old days when basketball players were all straight and their sexual exploits were nobody's business but their own. Like Wilt Chamberlain.
hecks (164 D)

It's just too bad Jason Collins felt the need to single-handedly create the expectations that people would talk about basketball players' sex lives. Would that we were in the good old days of basketball players' private lives being private, like the good old days of Wilt Chamberlain, Dennis Rodman, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Greg Odin, Karl Malone, Latrell Spreewell, Cliff Robinson, DeShawn Stevenson, Ron Mercer, Chauncey Billups...
krellin (80 DX)
17 May 13 UTC
@hecks -- Most people I know don't really want to hear about Chamberlain, didn't want to hear about Kobe Bryant, don't give a shit about Tiger Woods sexual exploits, etc. I dont' even know half ov what you have listed up there...apparently you are more in to tracking the social sexual deviancy of others than I am.

You need help...or maybe you need to get your own sex life.

But the thing is, take Kobe or Tiger - they got lambasted for their sexual exploits - because people don't approve. Nobody said, "Oh, it's their own sex life leave them alone, none of your business." EVERYBODY felt it was their job to JUDGE them, not accept them as they are.

Some butt plugger comes out and wants to talk about his boyfriedns and his sex club and if you happen to disapprove, you better have some mighty thick armor to defend yourself, because god forbid you criticize a butt plugger.

Are you really too stupid to see the hypocricy?
hecks (164 D)
17 May 13 UTC

Clever, Krellin. But the names listed are the page 1 results from a from a simple google search of "NBA sex scandal."

If Collins is going into gory detail about his sex life, I haven't seen any such thing. All I've seen is him saying, "If people want to know, yep, I'm gay."

Wilt Chamberlain can write a book detailing his sexual exploits and be celebrated for it, Karl Malone can be talked about as one of the great gentlemen of the game despite having impregnated a 13 year old when he was in college, and Dennis Rodman can be beloved for his very public sexual life, but all Jason Collins has to do is write an erudite column confirming that he's gay and creeps like you accuse him of pushing an agenda.

Are *you* too stupid to see *your* hypocrisy? No, I don't think you are. I give you more credit than that, and simultaneously less. I think you see your hypocrisy. I think you wear it like a badge. I think your ignorance is not the excusable ignorance of a stupid person. It's the willful ignorance of petulant child who should know better. You're a horse's ass, Krellin. You're a caricature of yourself, and you barely deserve my indignation or my disdain, let alone the carefully considered response I've given you.
krellin (80 DX)
17 May 13 UTC
Hecks -- I would never waste my time researchign NBA sex scandals, nor to a favor media to discusses such things. Soooo....again...perhaps this is just some strange urge YOU have to infest your brain with the sexual scandals of others...

Adn THANK YOU AGAIN for pointing out the hypocricy. If the BREEDERS want to go let their willy play in the wild, it's a "scandal". If the Butt Plugger wants to get it on in the open, it's a GLORIOUS DAY for all humanity.

hecks (164 D)

Wilt, Dennis, and Kobe actually didn't show up in the scandal results. Those were just off the top of my head. The others did because they're all accused rapists.

As for Collins....by coming out and sying "I'm GAY" he's is ipso facto saying "I like men to suck my dick, etc." He is announcing his sexual behavior.

He can do whatever he wants as long as it legal...but why the fuck do I need to know?

There is a difference between being *privately* gay, and taking it as an acceptable norm that in a casual conversation talking about your "boyfriend" or "my partner Joe" and letting people figureout, "Oh...Collins must be gay..." and instead "coming out" and saying "I'M GAY and don't you dare criticize me for it."

Hetersexuals don't have to announce their sexual proclivities. they simply show up with a spouse, or make mention of it. It would be perfectly acceptable for teh butt pluggers to do the same. Instead, though, they must announce their likes and dislikes. WHO GIVES A FUCK?!?! And, more to the point, who the fuck are they to tellme I can't criticize their behaivor? I'm not saying I have, but the general outcome of his "announcement" was that the media immediately went on a witch hunt for ANYBODY that dared to publicly criticize him.

hecks (164 D)
17 May 13 UTC
"Hetersexuals don't have to announce their sexual proclivities. they simply show up with a spouse..."

Let Jason Collins get married and show up with his husband and I can guarantee you he won't feel the need to come out in a magazine, friend.

@Hecks....<dear god...> Seriously? You are throwing in "rapist" with "heterosexual sex scandals in the media". You are an idiot. Not the same thing *at all*.

@hecks..."Let Jason Collins get married and show up with his husband and I can guarantee you he won't feel the need to come out in a magazine, friend."

Uhhh...I JUST SAID THAT. Good god....mental midget, you are...
krellin (80 DX)
17 May 13 UTC
@hecks -- I never said I was against gay marriage. I'm also for polygamy.

I'm against the gays feeling every time they get the need to plug a butt as their lifestyle choice they think I need to hear about it. I want them to shut the fuck up and just live their life, instead of feelign the need that *their* sexual choice is more important than mine, and feeling the need to announce it and *expect* that I'll throw them a party for making their choice.

krellin (80 DX)

It's not the forum, hecks. It's stupid, closed minded, assholes in the forum. Most of us are sane. Some are not. May I present exhibit A.
krellin (80 DX)
17 May 13 UTC
Jimgov - yes, you may present YOURSELF as exhibit A.

I'm not closed minded. I have not criticized anyone for being gay. I have not said anyone should not get married. The *only* thing I have said....which is in support of the GAY person who wrote the article I linked to - is that gay men need to stop feeling special and announcing to me that they are gay.

The *TRUE* closed minded person is the one that feels there is something soooo special about being gay that it *must* be announced, and we are all supposed to drop what we are doing, listen, and then throw happy little gay celebration parties. YOU are the bigot, jimgov and hecks - because YOU think that, because Collins is gay, he should...no MUST...be treated differently, be treated as special.

I'm saying treat him like anyone else. And if my hetero co-workers decided to start talking about his sex life, I'd tell him to shut up, I don't care. Same goes with Collins. So he's a butt plugger. WHO CARES. shut up about it.
hecks (164 D)

Saying it with CAPS doesn't make it so. You are only on to be a troll. You only post shit like this to get people stirred up. If you are homophobe, then great. Be a homophobe. But be one somewhere else. Your whole act is stale.
krellin (80 DX)
17 May 13 UTC
In other words, it has *nothing* to do with the sexuality of people...it has *everything* to do with the *appropriateness* of the *public dialogue*.

I don't want to live in a society where every moron thinks I'm supposed to stop and listen to his sexual desires. We used to be a polite society where sex was a private thing be two (or more) consenting adults. Now we wonder why teachers like to have sex with their students...
jimgov (219 D(B))

Using the vote button in gunboat
Can someone please clarify what the new rules are about using the vote buttons in gunboat? Back in the day communication using these buttons was accepted (eg. "Cancel" = let's stop fighting, "Draw" = let's take out the big guy, "Pause" = Somebody help me, etc.). I know there was some tl;dr about it in the Gunboat Tournament thread but if any mods/admins can clear it up here i'd appreciate it.
