also, we are not a pure democracy. we are a republic with a constitution. there are things that the people are not allowed to vote on, we can't hold a referendum to strip a citizen of their rights no matter how many times they talk in a movie theatre or other atrocities

A big point of analysis left out there is that sharia is not universally consistent across countries.

Though countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE have been severely impaired by religious fundamentalism in their governments.

Being a minority voice is still brave. Even if the minority voice is from the right wing.

It's more frightening still to bully a child into giving up a subject altogether because their opinions and views are 'too strong', and quite blatantly too 'wrong'.

If you wonder why young people often seem so weak, perhaps it is because in school they were never allowed to think strong or to stand strong for their own beliefs — only for the beliefs of their so-called teachers.

I urge young people to stand strong for what you believe. And I implore parents, to stand strong for your children. Surely they deserve the opportunity to learn how to think, before a teacher tries to tell them what to think as well.

@Capt Brad - You've never gone to school in a right wing Republican state where the teachers are pushing a Christian conservative agenda in the public schools.

No teaching of evolution or until Intelligent Design came along anything about how we got here. As a Jew taking the Bible as Literature class in the English department, the class had to teach it as literature instead of the original way as religious instruction. All the history classes had nothing above a primary school level that showed anything wrong with the White English way of life.

well here there is NOTHING right with ANYTHING white, republican, or heterosexual. the 'science' here is anti-industrial, and any initiative is stifled, stand out and they chop-off your head. its like living in the TV show 'the prisoner'

as a kid who took public school in Oklahoma up until 2016, your information is dated. VERY dated

I went to school in the 60s and 70s however it hasn't changed much in Arizona. Money isn't spent to improve education that in a rich school district was academically behind a poor black one in Chicago, Illinois.

The University of Arizona had to run high school level courses to get students up to college level from within the state. That's how low the high school graduation requirements were and still are.

Is it still that bad? Is Oklahoma's public school system seriously better than another state's?
