Most Useless Game Option
The site developers have done a great job on this site - and this is no slight on them. In view of the new 1v1 games, one option looks pretty funny for those games - "Hidden Draw Votes." Any others people have noticed?

What modern country would be the hardest to occupy, conquer and enslave?
USA, Russia, China, India, England, USSR, Germany, France, Canadia.

Let's put it this way: Would you rather enslave Canadians or Russians? There are also way less of us, making it a lot easier.

And historically, how many times has Canada even been attacked? The War of 1812?

And enslaved? Good luck enslaving China. Today, you won't even be able to touch China, but, not unlike the USA, Canada, or Russia, there would be absolutely zero motivation for those that live outside of the immediate realm of military influence to cave to an invader. The fact that China has stood up to conqueror after conqueror for the many thousands of years that it has shows that the people and the culture are going nowhere, even when someone else comes in and tries to get rid of them.

I feel like with the right occupying force, maple syrup, and free hockey tickets, canada would succumb fastest.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
03 Jan 17 UTC
Maybe Ontario. The rest of it wouldn't be worth conquering unless you're talking about a resource war.
Matticus13 (2844 D)
03 Jan 17 UTC
If we are being serious (are we?), the answer is the US. The military of every other nation combined against the US has no chance to even land a single boot on our shore. Any ships would be sunk quite far from the coast, thanks to our bloated military budget.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
03 Jan 17 UTC
I don't think boots on the ground is possible in any of the US, Russia, or China in today's world. There are plenty of other nations that are probably the same way.

Depends on how you go about it. You don't need to land foreign troops on US soil if you can get the American people to vote one of your operatives into command of that big US military. Just subvert democracy to take control of the government and enslave from Washington. All from the comfort of your own dacha.

India has more people now than china. I think itd take a tremendous occupying force to control India
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
03 Jan 17 UTC
India has strong forces around its volatile borders on both sides. China would have a hard time invading, obviously, because of the mountains, but if someone gave naval support to Pakistan and China found its way in, I think it would theoretically be feasible. Doesn't mean it would be a cost-effective or worthwhile fight.
MoscowFleet (129 D)

Brain, we'd never succumb just for free hockey tickets!

Of course, make them playoff tickets and it's a whole different story...

Canadia, because the first step to occupying, conquering, and enslaving a country is locating it - big problem right there.
My second choice is China - frickin' 1.5 billion people - you'll never be in control, unless you take over the central command and they don't even know you're in control. India isn't far behind for the same reason. Enslaving means making people do whatever you want - those large populaces would never let you do that.

The fact India is considered modern is because of the modern cities and tech when they literally have the most polluted waterway in the world, people defecate in public constantly (In the street, on beaches, etc), and people still live in mostly mud houses. Now they have a decent economy and a huge population? I thought they were third world? Call me blind to see but, when did India become modern/good? Also, China would be easiest, they sorta did it themselves with all the labor they have. Hardest would be U.S. don't even listen to the government they already have, let alone a foreign power.

"Let's put it this way: Would you rather enslave Canadians or Russians?"

Russians. Of course Russians. I would go full Barbarossa on them, but with way better supply lines and fuck France, I just wanna conquer Russia.

Of course it would be bonkers hard - Canada would be way easier IMO. In terms of climate difficulties both countries seem pretty similar, but in terms of the enslavement of the people it would be like enslaving a wolf vs enslaving a rabid badger. I mean the wolf would fight and all but in the long run it could be done, you could keep it in a cage, treat him well, feed him and heck, he might not even kill you at the first chance. The rabid badger on the other hand would just go full berserk mode until either you run away so far the badger doesn't see you, it kills you, you kill it, or (my favourite) you beat it with a stick for so long it is physically incapable of movement any more. Plus why would you want to enslave Canadians? They are awesome! Definitely in my top 3 nations. Russians on the other hand... I mean I can already see all the work camps, St. Petersburg burning, Kremlin destroyed. Hordes of starved people marching south fleeing winter because first thing I'd bomb in each bigger city would be the power power plant. Basically I think our best bet would be to relocate all men 15-65 yo into those huge colonies as far north as possible. Of course, millions would perish but hey, that's what you've gotta do, right? On the plus side you could release lots of dominions from the Russian Federations that would more or less take care of themselves, why you focus on the ethnic Russians...

Wait, at what point if I keep going am I actually starting to plan genocide?
yassem (2533 D)
03 Jan 17 UTC
BTW, I am NOT advocating any for of violence against rabid badgers. They should be taken care of by professionals, not beaten with a stick.

I dont see any possible way that Japan, Pakistan or Australia could be occupied or enslaved either

I think that the US would fairly difficult to occupy and enslave. Americans are stubborn and fairly entitled. Those are the worst people to enslave; they would likely fight back with the millions of firearms around the country. The size of our military implies that a large percentage of our "civilian" population is actually veterans. Not to mention that militarized police force we have which effectively doubles our domestic military. But then again our arrogance and divisive state could be our downfall. I think one of the hardest to occupy let alone fight or enslave would be Brazil. With its size and enviorment I highly doubt anyone could put up a serious occupation.
teacon7 (306 D)

USA would be hardest, because even if anyone could get past our military, our midwestern states are FULL of trolls.

Russia? Too big
India? Too many people
China? Too big *and* too many people
USA? Too big and too many guns ("a rifle behind every blade of grass"), but has demographic, political, and infrastructure weak points

Canada? Maybe - too big but ~90% of their population lives with 160km of USA; IMHO USA would only occupy Canada to prevent someone else from doing so.

England, Germany, or France? Definite maybes; small enough to occupy; populations lacking the martial vigor of their ancestors. Can we still sing
"Britons never, never, never shall be slaves"?

USSR would be incredibly hard to conquer as well since it no longer exists. First you would need to build a time machine, which is probably the biggest challenge. And once you do that, you'll probably get distracted by more interesting plans than going back in time to conquer the USSR, like gathering a cast of historical characters together to make a senior project presentation. Yeah - so USSR might be toughest.
slypups (1889 D)
03 Jan 17 UTC
And I take back my comments on China and India being hard - hadn't thought it through. There is no requirement to keep everyone alive, so if you're being brutal about it, you use nuclear bombs or biological warfare - truly awful and disgusting stuff. But you could wipe out most of the population that way, and enslave the remaining tens or hundreds of thousands of people that survive. This is so awful, I'm even feeling guilty for mentioning it. Awful stuff - would need a psychopath running such a campaign - not good for anyone.
