Most Useless Game Option
The site developers have done a great job on this site - and this is no slight on them. In view of the new 1v1 games, one option looks pretty funny for those games - "Hidden Draw Votes." Any others people have noticed?

For those that fear trash talk in 1v1, I suppose they can have no in-game messaging. Otherwise seems pretty silly to use this option in those games.

We can remove that option if we raise $25,000

also private vs public press...

Private Press in 1v1s is actually quite useful if you're playing some testgames to test strategy, but don't want to let the world know all your thoughts. Of course you can just PM the person but it's more convinient to post them in-game.

If they ever allow games to be other than "Unranked", "sum-of-squares" vs "draw-size scoring" look pretty useless. Either you win/lose (all points) or you draw (get points back) - pretty much the only scoring outcomes.

Slypups...the option to take out hidden draw votes is hidden..i thort dat was obvious..

No press one on one is a sad option if taken..if you cant handle trash talk then dont open conversation box ..that is an easier option..or silence is good as well.

Pretty sure you can choose Hidden Draw Votes in 1v1. Just not sure how that helps anyone. If you want a draw, vote for it - you'll quickly learn if the other player has that vote on. If you don't want a draw, don't vote for it - so you can only hide your draw vote from the player who doesn't want a draw, and wouldn't particularly care whether or not you voted to draw. It's funny.
captainmeme (1632 DMod)

They'll never allow ranked games on 1v1s because they could be used by two people to point farm (new account enters 100 point game, quickly loses, gets refilled to 100 points, repeat). There might be some sort of ghost-ratings list that only includes 1v1 games at some point (and ignores the fact that they're unranked), though.
slypups (1889 D)
04 Jan 17 UTC
I think it would be easy to identify such point farming (probably could run a script to check for that). It should be a bannable offense because it would require multi-accounts to do it. If anyone is quickly winning 1v1 games against newish accounts for high values, that looks incredibly suspicious. Probably once they set up some scripts to catch this type of action, they can open up the scoring, and are just holding back until they have the proper mod-tools in place to prevent abuse.

@captainmeme, there is already a 1v1 ghostRating section in the January GR's.

There is, but there's barely any data for it. We only published it because otherwise the "ChangeRank" and "ChangeGames" would be weird in February.

Slypups- mmmmm but that still would add the unwanted work of having the mod team waste time with more crap. Not to mention players just taking advantage of noobs. "Let me train you 1v1" and then farming that way.
slypups (1889 D)
04 Jan 17 UTC
Oh no - I'm not asking for the development team to do any work - it's not worth it. I just like finding amusement in things, particularly the absurd. I don't think these silly situations hurt the game at all if selected, they just look silly.

Mods - on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the highest priority for site improvements, and 10 being the lowest, please mark observations from this thread with an 11.

1v1 ladder?
With the addition of 1v1 formats to this site, I thought we should have a formal ladder where people can challenge each other for bragging rights. There is one on Vdip. If there is enough interest, I'll just hijack their rules and setup and make it a thread here.

Country Selection Algorithm
I'm just curious if there is a specific algorithm to assign nations on specific maps or do I just have to pray to RNJesus.
Why? Because every map I played twice I got the same country in my first two Games. can anybody verify that or am I just lucky/unlucky?
