Which Winnie the Pooh Character are you most like?
I'm firmly of the belief that they have most personalities covered pretty well. I, for example, am firmly a Rabbit. What about YOU!?? Don't mix and match, and don't pick that little dicknob Christopher Robin unless you are a man and enjoy penises that don't belong to you.

Cardinal Keith O'Brien sorry for sexual misconduct
That's nice .... if there were real justice in this world he would get the opportunity to tell a judge in a court of law how sorry he was, I wonder how sorry he was before he was 'outed' as a paedophile.

Lets take a look at what Luther actually stood for...

"Be a sinner and sin boldly, but believe and rejoice in Christ even more boldly for he is victorious over sin, death, and the world. As long as we are here in this world we have to sin. This life is not a dwelling place of righteousness"

"No sin can harm me"

"Whenever the devil harasses you, seek the company of men or drink more, or joke and talk nonsense, or do some other merry thing. Sometimes we must drink more, sport, recreate ourselves, and even sin a little to spite the devil, so that we leave him no place for troubling our consciences with trifles. We are conquered if we try too conscientiously not to sin at all. So when the devil says to you: do not drink, answer him: I will drink, and right freely, just because you tell me not to."

"The Jews deserve to be hanged on gallows, seven times higher than ordinary thieves"

"your sin cannot cast you into hell"

"I shall give you my sincere advice: first to set fire to their synagogues or schools and to bury and cover with dirt whatever will not burn, so that no man will ever again see a stone or cinder of them."

The apostles would be so proud...

Pope Sergius III and Pope John XII were given their position because they had powerful families who made donations to the church, not because of piety, faith, and a particular guidance from God.

Luther was a heretic, an anti-semetic, and a disgusting and evil man. Why would anyone want to follow him?
Draugnar (0 DX)
04 Mar 13 UTC
Yes, Martin Luther was anti-semitic. So was most of Christendom at the time (Including the official stance fo the RCC). Today the RCC is homophobic despite estimates from within their own ranks that as many as 50% of all priests are gay.

He was human. He had flaws. "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God".

I havent been able to find a reputable source for your claims regarding those two popes. Remember, Protestants and Anti-Catholics invented many tales about the papacy (i.e. Pope Joan).

There have been many many holy and great popes. A few that come to mind are Peter, Clement, Pius I, Fabian I, Leo IX, Pius V, Pius IX, Leo XIII, Pius X, Benedict XV, Pius XI, Pius XII, John XXIII, Paul VI, the two John Paul's, and the Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christianity_and_antisemitism

You want anti-semitism?

In the Middle Ages, religion played a major role in driving antisemitism. Though not part of Roman Catholic dogma, many Christians, including members of the clergy, have erroneously held the Jewish people collectively responsible for killing Jesus, through the so-called blood curse of Pontius Pilate in the Gospels, among other things

"50% of all priests are gay" More like 1%.

Sbyvl36 (439 D)

You admit it was not part of Catholic dogma. There ya go. It doesn't matter what the laity think.

I hold Pope John Paul II in the highest regard. It's BEnedict, may his sould rot in hell, you I have contempt for. Covering up pedophilia at the highest levels. He is Pope Pedophile I. That is all there is to it. I hope whoever they put in has the common sense that God gave him to reverse much of the damage Pope Pedophile I did.

Read the "members of the clergy". Clergy ain't laity. Clergy are clergy. Duh!
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
04 Mar 13 UTC
And what about some of Luther's other ridiculous claims, like that no sin can harm him, and many others. He was also an idolater.

Remember, all these Protestant "churches" broke away from us for one reason or another. Their loss. They can't get into heaven.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
04 Mar 13 UTC
@Draug. Once again, you're wrong. As Prefect of the Holy Office, he ratted out (for lack of a better term) dozens of bad priests. He has made the most progress in this. Of course, you have to resort to ignorance rather than discuss this papacy intelligently.

Benedict's papacy was successful in all respects, and people like you need to stop using false legends to try to derail us.
Draugnar (0 DX)
04 Mar 13 UTC
Sbyvl. Assuming you actually make it there, perhaps you will see when you get to Heaven that you were worng in determining anyone who isn't Catholic can't get there. For He is willing that none should perish but all have everlasting life. Jesus sacrificed himself for all people from all of time, including those who went before but never had the opportunity to know him in life. Therefore, anyone who accepts him as Lord and Savior *will* go to Heaven. To say otherwise is to deny scripture and deny Christ's own words and, in so doing, deny Christ Himself.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
04 Mar 13 UTC
Facts are facts. You can't dispute that His Holiness has made amazing progress in cleaning up this scandal, both as Pope and as Prefect of the Holy Office.

@Draug: Do you have the Biblical quote, as I am quite interested in that.

But have you noticed that only Catholics are praying regularly for Christian unity?

And by the way, we are also the largest religion in the world (17.4%). Closest to that are the Sunni Muslims at 15.3%
Draugnar (0 DX)
04 Mar 13 UTC
2 Peter 3:9 is the "none should perish". Now, Peter was the first Pope, right? Then that should carry all the merit in the world with you.
Sbyvl36 (439 D)
04 Mar 13 UTC
Here's the full quote:

The Lord is not slow about his promise as some count slowness, but is forbearing toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

We get a much different picture once you pull the whole thing up.

I didn't really have an opinion on Catholics until I went to the Vatican. The disgusting displays of vast wealth combined with the Swiss Guard slapping down an elderly American woman and smashing her camera when she dared to take their photo hardened my opinion somewhat.

No, but I will judge them based on the regard they show for an institution that preaches charity and a humble life whilst hoarding vast wealth and hiring mercenary thugs (which is what the Swiss Guard have always been) to guard it.
Invictus (240 D)

The Vatican has less money than some major universities, and much of that is tied up in art that, while valuable, can hardly be sold or, in some cases, even moved. When you hear about the vast sums of money the Catholic Church has that's referring to all the wealth of individual dioceses, orders, charities and the like.

World Diplo IX - not year 1
What year is the World Diplomacy IX set Definitely not year 2000, by then America was united. No countries have ever existed in Antarctica, and the last empire to rule Germany, Italy and France was Napoleon. Only India can claim some legitimacy on that map.

Recently, many South American countries closed their ports for boats from Falklands to support Argentinian claim to the islands. Since Falklands' economy heavily relies on fishing, not being able to dock, resupply and stuff hits them pretty hard.

The Ancient Med - not year 1
What year is the Ancient Mediterranean set? Definitely not year 1AD, by then the Med was a Roman Lake. Carthage was destroyed in 146BC, Egypt fell to Rome in 47BC, Greece had been Roman for centuries. Only Persia can claim some independence on that map.
