Lizard People Control Trump!!!!!
CNN has just reported that some people saw lizard people talking to Trump in the White House today. This confirms that we Americans are oppressed and should go riot somewhere. Maybe crash a few windows and raid while we are at it.

Completely Anon Game.
Hey, a player wanted me to advertise a completely anon game. Here is the link: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=191149

I'm not playing obviously because it's completely anon. If you join, please do NOT post here or anywhere that you've joined. I'll periodically bump this thread until it fills.

Feature request: expand mod powers
I've noticed that a lot of people have been having issues with mod's decisions lately and I think the forum would be a better place if the mods/ admins had the powers to do more than just ban a user and if they were allowed to, for example, also kill the user's family. Implementing a "-1 and ban" feature underneath the +1 feature may also be funny to watch. Thank you and I hope you take my ideas into consideration.

If I host an anonymous game, can I advertise it on the forum? It's not technically against the rules, but some might find it undesirable to know anything about who's in the game.

Ideas for resistance
what should we be doing as Americans and world citizens to combat creeping fascism?

These are things I have done so far -- more ideas for resistance and dealing with our constitutional crisis would be helpful.
1. Protests (perhaps especially helpful when dealing with a narcissist)
2. Letters and phone calls to lawmakers
3. Visiting supporting and protecting muslims refugees and immigrants that I know.
What else do we need to do? When does the civil disobedience begin?

I didn't see President Fart 'creep' into the white house...

(Though the point where a spainish translation of the white house website was deleted was rather quiet and subtle)

Yeah, cuz nothing says you guys hate fascism more than not respecting you government and attacking people who don't agree with you and destroying people's property.

Civil disobedience is a valid defence of your rights, and the rights of others.

If that means causing gridlock in a city's traffic by slow marching downtown during rush hour, or occupying the front entrance to public buildings, or other means of resisting, then so be it.
Condescension (10 D)

Respecting your government and taking tyranny lying down are the hallmarks of fascism. How you manage to conflate civil disobedience and authoritarianism is hilarious.

No. I mean the card that are set on fire, the windows which get broken, and littering your signs in the street. What happened to you guys loving the earth and want to recycle? Also the congress and constitution still protect the CITIZENS of USA.
ishirkmywork (1401 D)
30 Jan 17 UTC
I increasingly think this might be impossible, but I'd like to figure out a way to shame Paul Ryan specifically -- i think the civil disobedience should begin in his office.

Rioters take advantage of protests. You can't blame the millions of people protesting for the hundreds of people causing chaos.

and you are right, Wolfsbane, the couple of dozen anarchists who burnt that dudes limo shouldnt have done that -- but perhaps we should move past those lame talking points and focus on the violations of human rights and inhumane prejudice being implemented by the administration.

Wolf babe, the government gets respect only when it earns it. It's an American thing, so maybe you wouldn't understand that. Trump has earned tremendous district and opposition as have the whole GOP.

I'd suggest running for office and working for the Democrats or other organization (not just give money). Talk to people and don't be shy. Wrote letters to the editor and comment online. Share on social media. Organize some friends to do something on an issue. Comment on rules proposed.

Look, neo fascists like wplfsbane always try to take advantage of any excuse to extinguish dissent and protest. They hate Democracy and all that goes with it. I would take these complaints very seriously

If you guys want to protest, that's fine, but protesting in cities that voted 70%+ to Clinton MIGHT not be the most effective plan.
ishirkmywork (1401 D)
30 Jan 17 UTC
....so we should only protest in kentucky etc? That doesn't make any sense. We all have local, state and federal lawmakers around us that can influence the government and apply pressure. Plus trump watches tv apparently. a lot.
Condescension (10 D)
30 Jan 17 UTC
Yes James, all the protesters in Chicago should just take buses to Kansas.

Dude, they are making national/international television. I think this might be the start of a more radical "left tea party". The right protest similarly (albeit at a smaller scale) against Obama and that worked really well.
Condescension (10 D)
30 Jan 17 UTC
Protests are not campaign fundraisers.
JamesYanik (548 D)
30 Jan 17 UTC
@Condescension

yes, but you're not directly affecting people in high-Trump proportion areas. You aren't actually affecting their lives, rather they see you on TV or hear about it on the radio and think "what a bunch of whiny losers."

And then they hear people think about blowing up the white house on national TV.

Only the most radical parts of the marches go on TV, and we don't need a MORE radical message out there
Condescension (10 D)
30 Jan 17 UTC
Protests have worked historically.

They are not about convincing Trump sympathisers, they are about mobilising the left. They are about getting people who already agree to care enough to take action. Nobody gives a shit about convincing people on the right to change their mind.

"If you guys want to protest, that's fine, but protesting in cities that voted 70%+ to Clinton MIGHT not be the most effective plan."

I'm sure the people who sat in to protest the detainment of green card holders at SFO and denial of access to lawyers are well aware that California went for Clinton, but don't see what that has to do with anything. Yes, it would be *better* if there was *more* protesting in other areas, but the first thing is to react to what's in front of you.

Feature request: time clock location
It would be really nice to have the countdown clock right above the order menu. That way one wouldn't have to scroll up to see how many precious seconds are left (wasting precious seconds). Would be pretty useful toward the end of the 5-minute 1v1's in which there are a lot of orders to fill.

Who wants to guess if she's going to go all Byonce and get political during the halftime show?

My guess: In the middle of her song, she'll start advocating for PPSC and announce an engagement to Krellin.

Iran announces it is abandoning the US dollar
http://theantimedia.org/iran-ditched-dollar-us-matters/

This could be the start of A) war with Iran (though they will come up with other excuses to sell it to the public) or B) a collapse in the value of the US dollar - which could result in many other countries abandoning it as a reserve currency (which is a threat to national security, hence A)
