Did Cameron do this on purpose?
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/28/cameron-eu-juncker-defeat-britain-exit

His foreign policy is a total shambles but maybe he did this on purpose to accelerate the Brexit. It takes great strategic planning to bungle something this badly.

Could someone explain to me how to get the derivative of:

So [(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5]'=.....
I've missed quite some math classes lately and I need to know how to solve this type of thing (and other things but anyway) for a test tomorrow. I could probably figure it out myself eventually, but I just don't have the time and I have quite a bit more to go through.
Would someone be willing to show me the steps I should take?

Of Kurds and Caliphates
http://news.yahoo.com/netanyahu-calls-jordan-support-kurdish-autonomy-214846630.html The ISIS today declared itself to be an Islamic State...and we'll see how long that lasts, or where that goes...meanwhile, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyau called for support for the Jordanians (gee, I can't imagine why) and independence for Iraq's Kurds. Which is a more likely state to be recognized/come into being/"stick," a Kurdistan (if you will) or this ISIS caliphate? Thoughts?

B.J. Upton powers Braves past Phillies 3-2
Gerald Laird had two hits with a double and RBI for the Braves, who won for the sixth time in seven games though ending their road trip 8-3. Atlanta avenged a three-game sweep by Philadelphia June 16-18 at Turner Field.

Question for the mods:
I note we have some newish stats, like reliability rating. Ilove the idea of this. Is there some way we can set up games with a minimum reliability rating threshhold for participants? That would be a really nice way to filter out the people who join live games and then immediately quit the moment the game does not work out for them.

Coastal Movement
Normally, when two units make a move to each other's territories, it causes a bounce (Rhur moves to Munich while Munich moves to Rhur). However, would coasts be treated as different territories for fleets? For example, could a fleet in Spain (nc) move to MAO while another fleet in MAO moved to Spain (sc)? Same with Bulgarian coasts and Constantinople. Thanks in advance!

Quote from YJs article on gun control.

"...those who oppose it have made a moral choice: that they would rather have gun massacres of children continue rather than surrender whatever idea of freedom or pleasure they find wrapped up in owning guns or seeing guns owned—just as the faith healers would rather watch the children die than accept the reality of scientific medicine."

I think most people who choose to make their points in deliberately offensive ways have probably felt that way.
obiwanobiwan (248 D)

"Au contraire, it seems to've killed seven people. But my point was that it was a really bad analogy."

Noooooo...

A world view like yours that pities this schmuck for not getting laid and blames THAT as the cause of this rather than A. An extremely misogynistic and twisted young man, B. A society that operates on the sexual ideology that puts pressure on men to pursue women and women to consign themselves to a life of pursuit, catcalls, harassment and fear, and C. The "Men's Rights Activists" and Anti-Feminists who support this man's killing women and stand against feminism while bemoaning the problems of white Christian American Men (which is a bit like complaining that you just can't lose those 5 extra pounds you think you have to a person whose country is in a civil war and doesn't know where their next meal is coming from) who helped shape this jackass's beliefs, as evidenced by his documented activity and postings on their site.

(So sidebar...mapleleaf, try not to go on a murderous rampage...I mean, you said it yourself, you still can't wipe your own ass yet--have you solved that yet, my favorite fecal smear of a person you?)

Back to people and things actually halfway relevant--

Lack of sex did not cause this.

Sex is NOT A GOD-GIVEN RIGHT for men (or women, to be fair, though I can't think of an instance where a woman's complained about being entitled to sex...and heeeeere comes an interesting response from SOMEONE, I'm sure...oh boy.)

Let me ask you, Tolstoy--

Elliot Rodger said he wouldn't have done this if he'd had at least one girl have sex with him...to which those blaming this on "lack of sex" seem to cry out, "Oh, see, if ONLY you girls had paid a little attention to him, you wouldn't have had a gun-toting looney at your door...guess you learned YOUR lesson, right?"

Say he was actually being truthful--

Are you really going to ask a woman to spread for this guy so he won't kill people?
"Spread your legs or I'll shoot!"--That's the ethos we should be encouraging here?
And to take it one step further...I don't know if you have a sister, but...
If you had one, and Elliot Rodger demanded you make her spread or he shoots--
Are you REALLY going to tell your sister she has to put out for this creep?

In all our lovely little talks about religion, we've talked about--fair or no--how religions have developed a nasty reputation for putting women in dehumanizing positions, from Deuteronomy 25 11:12 (still my "favorite" passage from the Bible...because nothing says "The Good Book" like lopping off a woman's hand, right?) to the horrifying oxymoron that is "honor rape."

Whether you believe in a religion or not, whether you still back the Bible or not, I think we can safely say those two above instances are both horribly egregious acts of violence towards women, yes?

Then what makes a "spread for the poor sex-starved boy or he shoots" ethos acceptable, understandable, or even pitiable?

And those horrifying violations of women and their rights were penned hundreds or thousands of years ago, depending on the text...

What makes an attitude that says "lack of sex is a legitimate cause of mass murder" a position that should be backed, at all, in 2014?

I'm not saying you yourself pity Rodger, I'm just saying--

It's NOT about lack of sex...it's about a lack of action against a culture that breeds misogyny to the point where you can't watch a baseball game without seeing tits and ass all every commercial break, but if a woman tries to breastfeed a child in public, there's a complete and total uproar like THAT is the most indecent and disgusting thing imaginable, a mother using her breasts to feed and care for her child.

And it needs to stop.

How about both sides compromise: Republicans agree to more restrictive gun control if Democrats agree to have voter ID's. Seems fair to me...

@Obi
The over-sexualization of our society bothers me as well. It subconsciously teaches men that women=sex, not valuable human beings.

Please don't try and tell me the Bible degrades women though. It doesn't. (This is part of the reason why I wanted to go through it and explain it to you.)

Plenty of people manage to use guns for purposes other than murder. Sorry if that is hard for you to understand. More kids drown in America each year than are killed by guns and the number killed by cars dwarfs both those, but it doesn't mean I'm not going to take my kids swimming or drive them around in my car, nor does it mean I think no one should be allowed to own a gun. It's already illegal to shoot someone, I never understand why people think that if you just make guns illegal then people willing to commit murder will decide they just can't break the laws against acquiring a gun. It certainly hasn't worked in areas like Chicago and Washington DC.

In 2010 there were just over 1000 firearms deaths in the US for children 0-18. If you limit it to children under 15 it is 369 total. There were about 78 million children 0-18 in the US in 2010. Any death of a child is tragic, but I think we differ on what constitutes "A LOT". We also differ significantly in our estimations of the effectiveness of outlawing guns at preventing gun deaths. There are over 300 million guns in the US, banning them tomorrow doesn't make them disappear, nor does it make people willing to murder someone unwilling to steal a gun or acquire one illegally.

Anything you say, Yalie. No problems there. My bad. Carry on. lol.
It amazes me that people can defend easy-access to guns with a straight face. This is like the whole gay marriage or abortion arguments but even more clear cut. Why does the US bring people up who are capable of articulating their thoughts but too fucking retarded to actually consider what those ideas are. I am amazed that this is the world we live in. The US of A is by far the most negative influence on this world and on human culture.

Something needs to change.
