Did Cameron do this on purpose?
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/jun/28/cameron-eu-juncker-defeat-britain-exit

His foreign policy is a total shambles but maybe he did this on purpose to accelerate the Brexit. It takes great strategic planning to bungle something this badly.

Could someone explain to me how to get the derivative of:
(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5
So [(3x^2+6x)/(2x^3+2)^5]'=.....
I've missed quite some math classes lately and I need to know how to solve this type of thing (and other things but anyway) for a test tomorrow. I could probably figure it out myself eventually, but I just don't have the time and I have quite a bit more to go through.
Would someone be willing to show me the steps I should take?

Of Kurds and Caliphates
http://news.yahoo.com/netanyahu-calls-jordan-support-kurdish-autonomy-214846630.html The ISIS today declared itself to be an Islamic State...and we'll see how long that lasts, or where that goes...meanwhile, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyau called for support for the Jordanians (gee, I can't imagine why) and independence for Iraq's Kurds. Which is a more likely state to be recognized/come into being/"stick," a Kurdistan (if you will) or this ISIS caliphate? Thoughts?

B.J. Upton powers Braves past Phillies 3-2
Gerald Laird had two hits with a double and RBI for the Braves, who won for the sixth time in seven games though ending their road trip 8-3. Atlanta avenged a three-game sweep by Philadelphia June 16-18 at Turner Field.

Question for the mods:
I note we have some newish stats, like reliability rating. Ilove the idea of this. Is there some way we can set up games with a minimum reliability rating threshhold for participants? That would be a really nice way to filter out the people who join live games and then immediately quit the moment the game does not work out for them.

Coastal Movement
Normally, when two units make a move to each other's territories, it causes a bounce (Rhur moves to Munich while Munich moves to Rhur). However, would coasts be treated as different territories for fleets? For example, could a fleet in Spain (nc) move to MAO while another fleet in MAO moved to Spain (sc)? Same with Bulgarian coasts and Constantinople. Thanks in advance!

The Favorite Author Tournament: THE FINAL FOUR!
OK, sorry for the delay...and the continued delay--we'll start Midnight tonight. ORWELL! DICKENS! POE! TOLKIEN! Who will advance?

And a bonus question, just for schnicks and giggles--what's the first book you read after high school (or, if it was a while ago, the earliest book you can remember reading after high school?) Just curious to see what we get.

Chronicles is the best fantasy trilogy I've ever read. Tracy Hickman came to town recently for a gaming convention. I missed him. Makes me sad.

Fishstudios (245 D)

The Simpsons did an homage to The Raven, too - or rather, they just read it verbatim (except that it was edited for length). I don't think they've done that for any other work of ... anything, really.

I'm not sure what the significance of this is, but it must mean something.

Last year at secondary school, Shakespeare: The Scottish play in fall term; Hamlet in Spring.
After school graduation, Sophocles (in translation): Oedipus Rex.
The last 2 handy since we got Freud's CIVILIZATION & ITS DISCONTENTS in Spring term at College. Had ANTONY & CLEOPATRA, and KING LEAR (seen performed on stage several times since) Fall term in College.
J.R.R. TOLKIEN's "Frodo" leads the list of Heroes (which also includes Chaucer's WIFE OF BATH ) on the "Great" something or other commercial, catch-up spoken books advertisements. Commercial HEROES also includes Aeneas, Odysseus etc. etc.
Yadda yadda wisdom: You have to have read all the major works byk age 20 (Twenty).
Then switch entirely to non-fiction, except what you see in the print, TV or WWW media.
It's (Poetry) all been downhill since Swinburne. It's (All Literature) been down hill since Aeschylus.
Poetry is dead, and the novel ... dying, according to Nobelist I.B. Singer.
Harold Bloom, the Gnostic independent, lists Cervantes, Dante, Shakespeare, mainly the major majors of Shakespear
Great Books. The (Dr. Eliot's ) Harvard president's four foot high shelves of must-reads. .. include also Goethe's FAUST Part I. The King James's (A.V.) Bible, if you do English Lit.. T.S. Eliot if you do early mod.
And then there's Stendhal and Stendhal Syndrome! CHARTERHOUSE OF PARMA versus LE ROUGE ET LE NOIR. Bizarre!

You cannot omit the women writers: V. Woolf, the writer of the Odyssey, Sappho.
Nor Nora's James Joyce.
If you list Poe, then you cannot rule out A.C. Doyle's S. Holmes magnum opus

I'm with Eden on that. I was hard pressed between Tolkein and Dickens for that round, but Poe is my favorite of all three. My all time favorite (Ian Fleming) wasn't on here at all and number two was eliminated a while back (Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle).
it's ok mapleleaf, Poe will win and everything will be alright

well, except that America wins the gold AGAIN ahaha wow USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA

Worst Non-Sitcom TV Show You've Ever Watched? (4 Episodes Minimum)
Friends were raving about this Netflix show, "Orange is the New Black." Watched. ..It's awful. Wall to wall. The main lead (not the actress herself, she seems to be trying, at least) is like the adult equivalent of Bella Swann meets Every Yuppie Character Ever. Every character's a stereotype. Every guy is a perv, sex-crazed ass, douche, OR just has no life whatsoever. The writing is as bad as I've seen...and yet, this won awards? xD So, worst shows?
