Why do government "inflation" figures always discount FOOD and ENERGY prices....which are the *bulk* of people's regular spending...?

A mute a day keeps the Liberals away.
I have now started a tradition of muting one liberal everyday. I mute these people based on the radical statements that they make in the forum. As I don't want to hear it anymore, I am taking advantage of a very pleasant tool.

Mine got an 18K gold with 1/2 carat of diamonds lady bug pendant she loves. Was that good enough? Of course, as we have discussed, id on't expect the BJ, but the steak (which I will have to buy anyhow being the sole breadwinner) and the pi (sugar free so no "e"!) I think I earned. :-)

We will probably go for a steak tonight then go home where she will let me watch either a Bond film (Leaning towards For Your Eyes Only as it has been a while) or one of the LotR films (I watched Fellowship last weekend, so maybe Two Towers). I'd do the whole trilogy, but I don't have 13 hours to spare in one night, tomorrow is a work day after all.

Do you own a house? I ask because our hobbies around the house keep us at home. We enjoy our house and our yard so we invite people over and have cookouts during the summer and do our hobbies in the winter.

When I was a little kid my mother told me not to stare into the sun, so once when I was six, I did. At first the brightness was overwhelming, but I had seen that before. I kept looking, forcing myself not to blink, and then the brightness began to dissolve. My pupils shrunk to pinholes and everything came into focus and for a moment I understood.

@Draug Well in that kind of situation I understand. I meant more like not having a job, staying home and taking care of the kids. I know I just would not be happy being like that. I like having some financial independence.

My wife is financially dependent on me. She doesn't have a job. Our kids are in school full time. From about 8 to 3 each day, she can do whatever she wants. Seems like a good gig to me.

ife depends on me, and we do go out many evenings. In fact, we eat out more than in. We buy "gift cards" for the gas points when we go grovery shopping for breakfast and lunch foods and cleaning supplies based ont he places we plan to eat dinner at.

But considering her medical conditions preclude her from working or even driving, she has little choice. You'd be amazed what you can do when you don't have any alternatives.

Do all the tutorials and read through what I wrote to bosox (I think it was bosox) yesterday int he Psychoanalysis thread.

The spoace combat is where it is at, although the ground combat can be fun. But the ground combat in SWTOR is much better (where as it's space combat was arcade style shoot'em up).

And PM me your info and I will get you and invite to my Fleet as well as get you some good stuff you can use as you work your way up.

It is all in how you like to play. Do you like to be on the offensive and run in, bloody nose, run out heal a bit, then get back int he fray? That is tactical. Science and engineering tend towards the "keep tactical alive and keep threat off of him" role, but can dish out their own damage. Both of them tend to have bigger ships, but they turn slower and they don't get to use their deflector dishes as weapons or add as many offensive (tactical) consoles instead focusing on defensive and buff consoles.

Picard would be Science or Engineering. Kirk was a tactical officer. I'm more a Kirk (or a Sisko) than a Picard.

She mostly goofs around, doing the same sorts of things I would do if I had nowhere I had to be. Playing plants vs. zombies, watching movies on Netflix, re-reading Game of Thrones, going for walks, surfing the internet, etc.

Babylon 5 forever! Sheridan was the best and Ivanova and Leeta were simply incredible characters. Even that drunk Garibaldi, Lando, GKar, and the rest. JMS really did create a unique and amazing show.

TNG is on Netflix. Or was last time I checked and watched a few several months ago.

Babylon 5 too. I haven't watched Babylon 5 but heard good things about it. Except I heard the second season is where it got good and the first season not so much. I tried watching from the start because I didn't want to miss anything and just didn't get caught up in it.

So the question is, can I just start with the second season? Or do I really need the first season to understand the second season and beyond?

I'll be done watching Buffy probably next week so looking for something new to start. Was thinking of watching Angel next, but don't know if that'll catch me the same way Buffy did.

Alderian you really need to watch the first season. One of the reasons it's not as good as the others since it's all set up for the rest of the series. You'd go into season 2 a bit lost on some things. Also, if youn really did wanna watch it it was on Hulu awhile back.

As CF says, Alderian, You must watch the first season or some things in later seasons will be lost. It is part of the story arc and the change in some of the characters is vital to understanding the entire story. The only thing I would shift order wise is the last episode of the second to last season (Season 4) can (and in some ways should) be watched last. It was done when JMS and crew didn't know if the show was going to get it's final season or not, so it wrapped up a bit. No spoilers except it, in and of itself, becomes a spoiler just by having watched it as it is shown from the future 100, 500, and 1000 years beyond the end of the station.

Also, it is fun to throw in the made for TV movies where they supposedly fall in the story line. You can use wikipedia to determine this. Just don't read the synopses and spoil it for yourself.

I have to admit that the pilot movie and first season were almost my last, but I did return for season 2 and fell in love with it.

There's a reason that although it was only 5 Seasons long (was planned that way btw) people loved it. Also, I was always really impressed that they stuck to the 5 season limit.

Yes, they did (sort of). It was called Crusade and was about a ranger ship, the Excalibur, in search of a cure for the Drakh plague released on Earth. But TNT cancelled it before it ever really aired and only aired the 13 episodes that were already done.

I just saw somebody in a game online with a blue icon, but it didn't change the flag 'last seen online'. Question: how do these functions work? Is the blue icon reliable? Does the flag switch when a game is opened or literally when somebody is online?

Do Americans save money?
It may just be stupid television, but it seems like most Americans either spend their money as soon as they get it or save it to buy something more expensive as soon as they've got enough. Is this true for most Americans or is that just television? I don't know about other countries but here in the Netherlands most people (adults at least) have quite some money stashed on a bank account for worse days...

Default disband orders?
Hey all, I just joined a game as CD replacement, and Russia CDd as well during a disband phase. Since he does not fill in a disband order, the adjudicator forces him to disband.
My question: how is this disband determined?

I don't understand it: I see so many locked games that people join but I never see them advertised in the forum. How do people who create the game expect to get the password to potential players? And, if I want to participate in a locked game, would it be odd to pm one of the players who already joined and just ask for the password?
