WATCH THE CLIP before you trash the source. Utter bullshit...Romney is criticized for doing **what my kids schools do**...asking for canned goods, etc for natural disaster relief.

I noticed there are four disabled Variants to the game. Were these ever activated? Will they be activated? Does anybody know about this that can share?

How can we Prevent the Reverse Trickle Down Effect
Businesses have this awful habit of passing on increases in their taxes onto their customers, how can this be prevents. Are there certain forms of taxation that limit this effect? (Krellin et. all need not comment, I don't care about the arguments against taxation)

Severe Weather
The future of severe weather and government
Global Warming, whether man made (its man made) or otherwise is changing weather patterns in ways human beings have not prepared for. For the past few years the most densely populated portion of the US has been in the path of Hurricanes. If this trend continues, along with severe storms in the heartland and the occasional calamatous earthquake, what effect will that have on the role of government?
semck83 (229 D(B))

I think that has yet to play out. The following assumes that these trends continue:

If government does little except top-urgency disaster relief and life saving, then insurance rates in those areas will skyrocket, adding to the (mostly) already prohibitive cost of living, and accelerating the flight to the inland and the west.

If government does much, then the costs that would be reflected in insurance rates in the above case will still exist, but they will be more spread out and, for awhile at least, less obvious. This could be desireable if the trend is going to continue. If it's going to keep up over the very long term, however, then in fact continuing to populate those areas in large numbers is extremely inefficient, and option 1 is more desireable. Of course, it's a spectrum, and government involvement could be set at a level that would merely alleviate the pain and slow the process, without halting it should permament changes so warrant.

"If the trend is going to continue" in the second paragraph should read "if the trend is going to abate."

Good Night, webDip
Once again, you have so graciously deprived me of multiple necessary hours of sleep. I'll see you all for a live game during first period tomorrow. Hopefully none of Sarg's accounts will be involved. And maybe someone will bring some cupcakes by my house to make me feel better (Diplomat33, anyone?)!
