Considering an isomer is the same chemical formula, but different structure (pentane, methylbutane and dimethylpropane) and an allotrope can be different formulas but are just based on one element (O2, O3, carbon/diamond) then it is obvious they aren't the same thing. However, as is the case with pentane, methylbutane and dimethylpropane, there are times when both definitions apply. C5 an allotrope of carbon, whether it be pentane, methylbutane, or dimethylpropane.

At least that is what I remember from high school chemistry.

That's it. Im sick and tired of all this "Isomer vs Allotrope" bullshit thats going on in science right now. Isomers deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that. I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine Isomer at CERN for 2,400,000 dollars (that's about $20,000 yen) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my Isomer.
Molecular scientists spend years working on a single Isomer and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest molecules known to mankind.
Isomers are thrice as sharp as Allotropes and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything an Allotrope can cut through, an Isomer can cut through better. I'm pretty sure an Isomer could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.
Ever wonder why medieval Europe never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their Isomers of destruction. Even in World War II, American scientists targeted the men with the Isomers first because their killing power was feared and respected.
So what am I saying? Isomers are simply the best molecules that the world has ever seen, and Im tired of your "allotrope" bullshit.

Now that seems a lot more representative of the cutting power of Isomers in real life, don't you think?

@draug, i'd have assumed you can take a C-600,000,000,000,000 molecule and arrange it either as graphene or diamond. Being both an Allotrope and an Isomer. But if the bonds are different, does that exclide it from being an isomer?
