This is your new moderator trying out a new idea.
When I first started playing Diplomacy on this site, I had played a lot of live games, gunboat and full press, but over the summer, there was an increased in cheaters playing live games or so it seemed to me. They were playing a lot of live gb games and they had unbelievable alliances, but more importantly they made perfect spectacular supports without any prior indicative support moves (a support that failed because the unit to be supported did something else). It was rather frustrating, and so I stopped playing live games.
I miss playing live games.
There is something to be said for playing live games. The adrenaline pump is a heck of a lot more intense than a 36-hr game.
So:
We, the moderators, will announce specific nights where at least one of us will be online to ensure that there will be no cheating in live gunboat games. If you think there is cheating going on, then email us at
[email protected] with the following specific information: your handler, which game you are in, which countries you think are cheating, and the SPECIFIC moves (there must be more than one move involved) that made you think they are cheating. We will then check the game out to make sure everything is on the straight and narrow. Please do not post cheating accusations in the forum.
Quick example of an email you would send to us: I, Mr. XXX, in game XXXXX, think that Russia and France are cheating because they did this: XXXX supported XXXX to XXXX in Autumn 1902, XXXX supported XXXX to XXXX in Spring 1904, and so forth.
We want to know which nights they are most likely to play a live game on and if people would appreciate this once-in-a-while event. We will then announce the night a day or two ahead of time, and we will try our best to make it a fun night for everyone.
