Gobbledydook, I'm a reform socialist, I identify most with the Green Party here in Sweden, they don't really take a stance right or left on the economic scale, they favour a mixed economy according to the Nordic model, but they're progressive and very strong when it comes to issues like feminism, LGBT rights and animal rights. And of course the environment. Economic issues are not that important to me because here in Sweden, our economy doesn't suck. We're horrible godless commie socialist satanists who haven't let corporate greed run amok. The welfare state does have problems, but despite the very high taxes here, we still have tons of innovation and enterprise, I mean, IKEA, Volvo, etc. Outsourcing is combatted by pumping tax money into public education, all schooling including university is free here, and a lot of companies choose to stay in the country despite the expensive labour, because the work force is educated and creative. We'll see how the system copes with increasing globalisation, I don't have any answers and it's not my area of expertise, but it will be interesting.
And yes dubmdell, American politics are extremely dull to me, because from my perspective, Republican and Democrats are basically the same thing, one slightly more right than the other. It's bizarre to me that Obama is to the left over there. He would be firmly in the centre-right over here.
