Geofram you need to clarify the PPSC option.
I answered with no cause I though it meant if I m interested in a PPSC GR stat and I am not.
But if it meant r u interested in separate PPSC and WTA ratings I would have answered with yes, cause WTA is all that interests me.

I don't mind if the GR page gets changed to incorporate different ratings for gunboat, etc. But I am strongly against putting GR on this website. The appeal of this site is its transparency and its simplicity. I think GR is a better way to rank players but points are more useful for everything else and having both here will be confusing to new members of the community. Its also cool to only have it come out once a month because that way, it is like a power ranking. If you really care about showing off your GR, just put in your profile like lots of players already do.

I'd be willing to publish some monthly stats for ghost ratings of that's doable with the new system. The suspense each month is quite fun and I think publishing global stats monthly would capture some of it.

And we can give people some credit. Having a GR in your profile isn't rocket surgery. If people can handle percentiles and the odd 'ranks' that we have now, they can handle a ghost ratings.

yeah I also agree with GR coming up once a month for 24hrs (then disappear) instead of staying there permanently. The point system could stay permanently.
GR automatically coming up once a month along perhaps with a personal message is actually the same as looking up your gr in the TGM spreadsheet but you dont have to use control +f :P
and I also think the terms gr rating and ranking can be easily understood by everyone.

It's just that I get no useful information from seeing another player's banked points. Surely GR is no less arbitrary a number than the amount of points a player has on hand?

If you don't get any useful information out of that spreadsheet I'd advise going to ghoistie's site and reading his math explanation, because it is very useful when trying to determine another players skill level, how they have been playing lately, when they started improving/losing skill, what kind of opponents they play against, etc...and all without spending hours looking through their old game.

I'd like to see only my current GR, as a single value, calculated for all maps and all variants without different weightings applied (I know this isn't an option in the survey).

@jmo no, no, no... the spreadsheet is quite useful. It's just that I play on several different machines, and I can't be downloading things to all of them.

Did it. Did it not-quite-now :P I like the idea of having GR posted on the profiles, and maybe even the "rank" based on the GR and not the points?

Sidenote, I wish I had the programming know-how to help implement these changes, I've wondered about them for a while.

Also, Martin brought up an important point in another thread.
Currently, a playing who leaves a game and is replaced, does not lose GR as there is no way for TGM to know who he was.

By integrating the ranking, this might be able to be fixed.
