Send an email to [email protected]. They only investigate cheating allegations sent to that email address.

Also, it is against the site rules to post cheating allegations on the forum. Please don't do it any more. And yes, a question like "is this cheating?" Is considered a cheating allegation as you have named names and ttied them in the public court rather than letting the mods investigate first.

I like the analogy, should the verdict and sentence then be a matter of public record too? Should it be announced prominantly on the forum? My feeling is yes, what is yours?

In fact might I suggest a thread giving verdicts on cheating accusations? This thread might refer to the accuser and the accused, with the verdict from those who are charged with making the decision. How say you?

Once convicted, absolutely. Name and shame the cheats. And if by some chance the accusations were leaked, they should have their names publicly cleared by a mod as well.

If they were banned, you can't really shame them. If they weren't banned, then shaming them is only going to make them leave the site or create a new account. How is that helpful to anyone?

If they we're multis where one account was banned and the other warned or metas who got a stern warning and docked points, shaming them may help alter the attitude and will provide a warning ot others to think twice before joining one of them in a game. It's just like sex offender registries. We can keep track of who the offenders are that were given a second chance.

Ab, as painful as it is, I would have to agree that public "shamings" could be a deterrent to potential multis who see that folks do get caught. I realize it won't stop those who build multi's from the start, but I do think it would discourage those who are unsuccessful with one i.d. and decide to add some.

And if found innocent after being publicly accused, a mods declaration of innocence would go far to restoring reputations and showing the new members that the mods care.

Draug, surely you are not claiming that once accused in public, a reputation can be "put back together"? If you are publicly accused on the front page of the paper, and two days later they print a retraction, you're going to escape unscathed? Everyone who read the first thread accusing you will read the second thread finding you innocent? ??????

I agree with the publicity once found guilty, but can you imagine with some of these loose cannons, what this site would be like if public accusations of cheating were not discouraged??

I said it would go far towards that goal. Not that it would accomplish it or that it is an acheivable goal, but it is better than ignoring the accusation altogether.

I still say there should be something more obvious about not posting cheating accusations in the header when you go to post a new thread. It happens ALL THE TIME.

If nothing else, a public statement of those recently banned would be useful to see if anyone with whom one played a game prior to the banning was in fact banned.

For instance, I had a guy who accused me of multiaccounting in a game who I played later... He won the game narrowly (in part due to my failure as much as any potential multiaccounting). I didn't know he got banned until I happened across a meltdown in the live games thread and checked a gameID and saw he got banned for multiaccounting.
