Who Would Win?
1st match- Sherlock Holmes (the traditional one, not this movie's one), Batman, Indiana Jones and James Bond are all after the same artifact.

Who gets there FIRST... and who KEEPS IT? ;)

Is it possible that the Diplomacy Web programmer can establish that the receiving of a private message (blue envelope icon) appears in the sign-on\sign off area of the page as opposed to or in addition to the “Notes” section?

Unpausing a Game
So, I've got a game in progress. And it's paused.
Austria and Russia are refusing to unpause.
Could the mods unpause this game? I think it could end in a draw, but I want to play it out; A and R are unwilling to do so. http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=15821

My Turn
I invite 16 of you wanna-be world rulers to join me in a WTA World Variant game. The pot is reasonably attractive.

WTA... You know you just have to put that reputation on the line here. Besides, if you're like me, you're getting fed up of playing the same seven countries all the time. Imagine: no more opening press about bouncing in the Channel or Black Sea, no more fears of the Juggernaut.

And yes, this game will have full communication so you have a chance to be rude to people all around the world, even the penguins and polar bears.

Flashman i would love to play if I had the points but would you by chance be interested in playing in the world cup? I know you resigned from competition but this should be pretty laid back...

Braveheart (2408 D(S))

are rules all the same?
flashman (2274 D(G))
12 Jan 10 UTC
Denis: it depends on who is running the World Cup... Braveheart old stick, good to see you are still around. As far as I know the rules are the same. I thought one fairly entertaining (and long-lasting) game should be attractive enough.

There are some oddities. One country has no fleets to begin with, another no armies - but the map makes clear why...
flashman (2274 D(G))
12 Jan 10 UTC
And the game number happens to be incredibly lucky in Chinese...

What more reasons do you need?
flashman (2274 D(G))
12 Jan 10 UTC
And one more point: the large map is decent enough to see what is going on.

Xapi (194 D)

I don't have the cash right now, sorry...

I really think though that PPSC fits the variant better than WTA. In a map so large, it would be almost impossible to for a "stop the leader" alliance, and I don't think there are stalemate lines there either.
flashman (2274 D(G))
12 Jan 10 UTC
Well, those are issue to explore. I expect a lot of fresh thinking will be required and that's what makes it attractive for a change. I made the pot reasonably high so that there would be an incentive to play the game out.

Besides, I can, hopefully, kick butt with a bit more elbow room.

re WC. Well, you-know-who has been drafted in to assist, but he's not in charge. Also you'd have to find a team which might not be easy now. Nice to see you're still around (look forward to seeing who you were in the anon game if/when we finally finish it.)
As for the world game, sorry I'm in too many things already.

You might even get a chance to raise the Arabian nation to greatness...

Or impose a new millenium Spanish empire around the world;

create a Fourth Reich;

live like Caligula;

revive Communism (or gangsterism) and put the world into Gulags;

make the Chinese pay for all that CO-two they are pumping out;

gain control of all the drug producing areas in the world - a super cartel...

The possibilities are many.

It could be a nice little warm-up for the upcoming world cup - or just a good chance for newer players to play WTA without the huge pot that is involved in some of the WTA games. Hope to see you there...
