Saudi Arabia

My wife has been invited to speak at King Faisal Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and they're also willing to fly me there as well. Looking beyond the knee-jerk reaction that visiting the Middle East is unsafe for westerners, is there anyone here that has been there recently; and if so, how comfortable were you visiting/traveling there? I'm personally pretty damn exciting about the chance, but I don't want to wear either rose or black covered glasses (so to speak).

Dog-gone Funny Tails

I love my aquarium fish- and I love dogs, too, and am happy to report I'm (the family is) getting two new Shih-Tzu puppies, two brothers, on Friday! Getting them to commemorate Sparky, our loveable porch-hound Golden Retriever that just died... but we had some great times. What're YOUR dogs and good dog stories?

Player is revealed when leaving an anonymous game.

When a player leaves an anonymous game before it has started, it is announced in everyone else's homepage including their name. Any reason for this?

A better change would be that if they go into CD, we DO know their names, so we know to avoid them in the future...

How do you know this? I left an anonymous game once and it said I had left to me, but I'm not anonymous to me. Are you sure that isn't what you saw?

@Draug; this is accurate, I saw it myself a few days ago. When waiting for the game to kick off someone left, and it gave their name.

It is a bug, but not a huge one I would think

Interesting ploy... I unintentionally did it when I quit a game with Diplofool in it then rejoined, but I didn't realize they saw I specifically had left. I thought they just got a message like "someone has left game ABCDEFG".

It certainly seems odd to get a name if they leave before the game starts, but not after. Surely we should know *all* names by the end, but I'd rather not know the names of those who leave until then, since they are more likely than a random person to be the replacement.

But most important IMO is to get every name eventually.

After the game ends, yes, it is important.

But during the creation of the game or whilst it is being played out, it should not matter or be available.

Well, the problem is we don't know who the CDers are in an anonymous game if someone comes in and takes over for them. An observant person can tell, if the pot increases or not, if the take over is the original player or someone new, but if the pot increases, we never know who originally had that nation and went CD.

Right.

So if it's easiest to program just to have an announcement that somebody left, with a name (as already happens if they leave before it starts), then that would be better than never learning who they are.

But best of all would be to only learn who everybody is (including those who leave) when the game ends.
