Game on!
To answer the questions about licensing and Kestas:
1) Yes, I asked him before I posted about testing for my variants
2) Kestas is very busy right now (finals are coming up), and there has been a variant patch available for 6 months now by jayp (which I'm using), but Kestas would prefer to write it himself, so everyone will just have to wait until that happens.
3) webDiplomacy uses the GNU AGPL open source license. It does not mean that I have to give credit to the original authors (but I do anyway, you're probably confusing it with the creative commons license). I can even charge for people to use my site if I want. Open source does not always mean free.
Open source does mean, however, that the *code* I write in modifying the original must be made available to the public. And I've done just that here: http://forum.webdiplomacy.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=374 . All my modifications (instant messaging, map tweaks, home page, etc.) are there, and Kestas, when he has time, will implement most of those changes here :) I plan to convert all my variants to whatever system Kestas creates for use here.
