my apologies, I had written a much longer post which included the contents of the conversation, as well as why I thought it was important enough to mention. apparently it didn't go through....
firstly, invictus is right, it is 'plamondon' sorry for the typo.
With pun it was mostly talking about his life experiences, starting the white panther party, and workign with the black panthers, young lords, brown berets, red guard party, young patriots etc. how he was accused of bombing a CIA office in ann arbor (mi) and fleeing to algiers, discovering his indigenous heritage and basically his journey. that was really cool, but I didnt really come away from it with any insight.
The conversation with ward however was amazing. He talked of government repression of dissidents, including the murder of fred hampton and his roomate mark clark (sp?). He spoke of direct action and democracy, And how in a social justice movement, ineffectuality is violence. He also spoke of national liberation, and how it will alway fail when looked at through the lens of the state. (i.e. a nation is not a state, a state is not a nation, and a state, such as cameroon or sri lanka or the USA are comprised of many nations, but only one state. )
I cant remember what I wrote originally, which is a shame because it was much longer, and more importantly because it was fresh in my mind, said much more.
I suppose in my excitement I never considered the impossibility of translating the experience to text.
