"Resigned" status
Minor item but it affects player stats. In this game "Lil Trotsky" was defeated and should have had his units disbanded, but since the win condition is processed first, he is marked "resigned" instead of "defeated".

Help! Double account user defeating people!
This double account user in one of my game is doing it VERY cleverly. I emailed to mod, sent PM to TheGhostMaker, but I think eitehr they didn't get it/check it or they are still not sure if it is really double account of same person. But the user is playing MANY games in which his both account is playing.

Just curious if there will be anoher SoW game soon. If so I would stop joining new games from now on so I can then hopefully join one SoW and focus on it ;-)

There's something funny with the Game counter (they seem to be about 2 or 3 too high), but it still gives an idea.

I'll try to sort that out for next month.

Newbie here
We currently are playing at www.playdiplomacy.com but we are getting annoyed with it. Does this site tell you if you enter an invalid move or does it still allow the command to be entered? Like if you try to move to a place 2 spaces away?
DJEcc24 (246 D)
02 Sep 09 UTC
it gives you a scroll down of only places you can move
Draugnar (0 DX)
02 Sep 09 UTC
It won't even let you enter the move. PlayDiplomacy is based on the code from this site. Kestas (the site owner here) is the original developer of the code PlayDiplomacy used to build their site.
Mack Eye (119 D)

This is a great site - the scripting will only let you enter valid orders. Hats off to the developer(s)!
fortknox (2059 D)

Shoe, as draug said, playdiplomacy still has bugs from a branch of the code that has been fixed here. This is the latest and greatest code (kestas is the original developer, and deploys his code here as it is his site), so any enhancement or bug you've seen either has been fixed here or will be fixed here before anywhere else (most likely).
Alderian (2425 D(S))

Note that you can still enter some invalid orders, such as having one unit support hold another that is actually moving. Or a fleet ordered to do a convoy but the army is doing something else. Or an army ordered to move via convoy but the fleets do something else.

But, you can only order an army to move via convoy to places where there are actual fleets to get it there. Hopefully that makes sense.
JECE (1253 D)

Yes, but the basic orders are usually always shown and not hidden. A common example is trying to order a retreat (the default option during the retreats phase) for a unit that can't retreat anywhere. The game, wisely, tells you that no such move is possible, points out the unit whose move is not possible, and won't let you finalize until you give a valid order. This sort of message also comes up if you try, for instance, to order a support hold for a unit that doesn't border any other unit. And yes, you can order a move to a province "2 spaces away", but you will have to select an option in a drop-down menu that ends with "via convoy", so it is hard to miss.

Support holding a unit that is moving or not matching up moves and convoys isn't a bug. There is no way the system could tell you for certain because you allies can support or convoy you and vise versa.
Alderian (2425 D(S))
03 Sep 09 UTC
True. But it could be made a bit smarter so that when you hit the update button it could put a warning next to a potentially invalid order. Still let you order it but flag it as a potential problem. Clearly if you order army A to support hold army B but you order army B to move, that could be caught. If army B belongs to another country then yeah, nothing it can do.

I'm not complaining, I love the interface. Just saying that there is some more that could be done.
spyman (424 D(G))

I wish it could tell me if my moves, although legal, were not very good. For example, if I support a unit to move, it might warn me "you do realise that support could be cut" or "France may have been on you side last turn, but he can take two SCs off you, putting himelf in-line for a solo victory". I always forget that stuff.

@Alderian, not if amry B isn't your, but is an ally's and the ally hasn't entered orders yet. and what if he is stabbing you? Wouldn't an indicator saying the convoy or support will fail because your ally didn't put in matching orders be a give away of the intended stab? Is it right to give out that kind of info?

Alderian (2425 D(S))

Draugnar, as I said at the end of my last post: "If army B belongs to another country then yeah, nothing it can do." By which I meant, it could detect such things as long as all units involved are your own. Yes, obviously it can't detect a potential invalid order if units other than your own are involved.

back to shoeface... who is "we"?

... are you referring in the first person plural because you have multiple accounts here or just because you enjoy referring to yourself in that fashion ;)

Move question
I think the answer to this is obvious but here goes:

Army A, B and C are all owned by the same country. Can Army A move to Area B, and Army B move to Area A with support from C? Would this successfully switch Army A's and Army B's positions?
