In terms of what is a better result than another, the G-R system is equal to the points system.

In WTA, survivals to a solo win are the same as eliminations.

In PPSC, the number of SCs for a survival is what is important. A survival with 0 SCs is equal to an elimination.

my understanding was that in G-rating, survival and elimination are both losses. completely alike, and not different in ppsc or wta. but maybe xapi is right.

I was also under the impression (after reading TGM's summary of his system), that survivals still counted as a loss.
The ratio is simply (Wins+Draws)/total games, and I don't think "survivals" are even considered.
(It's not just a 'simple' sum of wins and draws of course, rather they're weighted by more complicated equations which presume a certain a priori likelihood for each player to win/draw based on every participating player's ghost rating).

I also don't think the current system differentiates between WTA and PPSC games.. (since it focuses on only the wins/draw, regardless of the SC counts and points awarded)..
But I don't know that for certain.

in fact, i created a whole separate account so i could devote it to diplomacy, but i got so annoyed with it that i stopped using it =)

lol i did the same, and had it forwarded to my main account b/c i didnt want to check it unless i knew i had something. but then i would forget the forward, and reply directly from my main account!! dammit!

Here you will see that there is a diferent algorithm for PPSC than WTA, even if you don't fully understand it (I know I don't)

Basically, the G-R system is all about Result vs Expected Result.

In WTA, result is 1 for win, 0 for elimination or survival to a solo win, 1/n for a n-way draw.

In PPSC, result is n/34, where n is the number of SCs you control at the end.

Xapi is essentially right there. My "Result" value = the points pay out in a game with a pot of 1.

Oh. I'd read Ghostmaker's little summary there, but I interpreted the last line:

To mean that the ratings only used the wins/draws, and that the discussion of the PPSC stuff was purely academic.

No, that means that I have used the same V formula for PPSC and WTA.

A figle says, we are getting a message system, along with all sorts of nifty things, in the next update. It could be as soon as early July.
